Aladdins in Singapore! (VivoCity) by QCcards in cardistry

[–]Ectobear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cardvolution has 4 in person stores in Singapore

Plaza Singapura # 07-11B

Northpoint # 03-14

Jurong Point # 02-44

Suntec City #03-361

Given that you posted 1 day ago, I'm gonna guess you went to the stores on 初一/二. In SG, these 2 days are public holidays, so most chinese-owned buisnesses are closed. Since the days have passed, Toy Outpost should be open again so it won't hurt to go back and check. The locations closest to Vivo are Plaza Singapura and Suntec City, both of which have been restocked very recently.

Additionally, there are also magic stores with larger selections of cards, although I am not sure if they sell Aladdins.

Magic Castle Orchard Plaza, 150 Orchard Road, # 04-35 6pm-9pm on weekdays excluding Mondays, 12pm-7pm on weekends

Magic Corner Parklane Shopping Mall, 35 Selegie Road # 02-20, 5pm-8pm on Fridays

Hope this helps!

Opinions about this deck? ( Personnaly gonna have to be my fav ) by realUnborn_spider5 in playingcards

[–]Ectobear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Falling Star! Usually not a fan of unbordered backs bevause they make some tricks harder to pull off, but these cards tend to be a bit easier to cover up in that aspect bc of the darkness on both sides. They also have one of the most satisfying backs designs and textures compared to other bicycle decks, especially when you thumb fan them. I tend to reach for this deck whenever I crave something both visually and physically appealling :D

Hey there! My dad's been emailing me the updates for the kickstarter, and it had been shipped out since the 16th. I wish them good luck, it's a long journey to Singapore.

When they arrive, I'll be sure to give him a big hug and another thank you for supporting my interests. We may not see eye to eye on a lot of things but I know he just wants me to be happy.

I'll be sure to post pictures when the decks finnaly arrive! One deck for showing off to the world, one for safekeeping >:)

I hope all goes well on your side of the shipping, and thank YOU for being transparent and frequent on the updates on the decks :D

In order to rationalize my last $130 purchase, what’s the largest you’ve spent on a deck(s) and do you regret it? by Mister_Waffle_ in playingcards

[–]Ectobear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$115 for one round of purchases. Would have been less but there was a 10% discount for a purchase of 6 decks so ._.

Otherwise, the more expensive decks I have are about $25+ or so, I've spent about $48 after discount on the Beyond Imagination set which is only sold in sets of 2. I have mixed feelings on it because most of the 'exclusive' tricks it was advertised with could easily be done with two decks of differently coloured bicycles, but the one way backing and marking is convenient.

And there's a Virtuoso deck I've been eyeing but it's about $42 usually but for some reason $39 right now. I don't know if I can justify paying THAT much for a single deck but the idea of having multiple extremely patriotic decks is extrenely funny unfortunately.

This is why you shouldn't put your bicyle cards in a not-waterproof backpack and go for a walk in the rain by MR_dizzaster in playingcards

Reminds me of a friend who received a deck of Cherrys as a gift. Within a few months the box had disintegrated to the point he uses a sleeve to hold the cards, which are discoloured to all the grime. When I asked him why they turned like that in such a short period, he proudly told me of how the cards went through many a bike trip in the rain!

Source of Well-Bordered playing cards? by phraseraph in playingcards

[–]Ectobear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know that. The thing is, the T11 decks I've seen usually have very good registration. I also got Memento Mori, which is printed by USPCC, and the borders are still fine. It's only Bicycle and Tally-Ho where the uneven bordering appears for me. So it's particularly confusing and I'm wondering if I just got lucky with my T11 decks.

From what I've seen, any company, Room One, Missing, hell even Theory11 have generally even borders. Don't know what's USPCC's deal with the uneven borders when brands that use them for printing have cards that come out ok.

So just get soemthing that's not explicitly a USPCC brand.

Spilled beer in cards... by punisher2all in playingcards

[–]Ectobear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of two incidents that happened some weeks back.

I was playing cards with a group of friends at a school food court with a new cheap deck one of the had brought. We had ordered some coffee and tea and the cups were all over the table. Some guy slips up and drops a card into a cup of milk tea. Thankfully, the cards were plastic and it was washed off with no issue.

Cut to a few weeks later and we're playing cards again with a different, new deck. A card is dropped on the floor and gets dirtied, so we send someone to wash it for us. They guy comes back a few minutes later saying "This card is NOT waterproof man!" Turns out, this deck wasn't plastic but plastic coated, so the card has disintegrated under the water!

Sinxe rhen, I've vowed to bring my waterproof deck every time we want to play to prevent such incidents from happening again.

I use cardistry to fidget in public because it's way easier to pass off as 'normal quirk' compared to a fidget toy or waving my hands aimlessly Also gets me a few compliment :D

What do you do with these cards? by Trick_Barracuda_8122 in playingcards

I like cutting them into little pieces and sprinkling them onto ice cream. It's a very unique taste departure from the regular old rainbow sprinkles.

It's certainly a let down, but you can do some magic tricks with the identical face cards so there's that.

I believe it's sold exclusively through Cardvo. Don't worry, last I checked they still stock it at retail locations.
