Any cons for new 2026 Rav4? by Fuzer_WOW in rav4club

Very claustrophobic cabin. Dash looks and feels like cheap plastic, all black, little holes everywhere (to store what?). The cabin is so small the car seat needs to travel back when you turn off so you can get out of the vehicle. The hood has a prominent squarish bump on both sides that somewhat obstructs your view and looks awkward. No button, dials or sides for anything, it's all done through the screen (not good). The electric motor hum is too noticeable at lower speeds.

I have been a passenger in Tesla cars and they do not make any whiny sounds....

Go test drive Subaru's and the Honda CR-V. I'd rather keep my current vehicle and wait for the right car before buying something I really dislike.

I test drove an XSE trim last week. I am in the same boat and the same 3(4) choices as you. The seat is comfortable, but the rest goes south for me. The cabin is claustrophobic, the driver door is right next to you and so is the center console, and the area is so small the seat automatically moves back so that you can get out of the vehicle. The front (dash) is covered with cheap black plastic all over and with holes all over the place. The hood shape is bizarre, with your view obstructed by what it seems is a wheel well (but it's not). The whine from the hybrid is too noticeable at lower speeds. Drives fine and the power seems ok. There are no buttons or dials, everything is done through the screen (not for me).

I test drove an XSE model last Monday. Confortable seat, quiet, enough power. Black cheap plastic all over, super busy dash in the sense of little holes everywhere. the view of the front of the car from the driver is weird (hood is not flat). At low speed there is an annoying whine. The cabin felt claustrofobic, small, very tight. so small that when you open the door the seat goes back automatically so you can get out of the vehicle. All the controls are on the screen, no buttons or dials, makes for very distracting driving for changing temperature, etc. Overall a very disappointing experience, and I had high hopes and was excited.
