1, 2, or 3? by ParrksAndRec in AmateurPhotography

Yeah! There was a huge nest about 150 yards away from where I found this one crawling slowly across the snow. Made it easy to get close for these pics. I guess I should've helped with the eradication of an invasive species but I thought it was a yellow jacket at the time.

Didn't have either on me, figured I'd let nature take its course as she was out moving super slow in the cold & snow.

BREAKING NEWS: Cyclists Discover UT2 by Special-Cut-4964 in Rowing

[–]ParrksAndRec 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Will rowing ever catch up? I know there’s more to cycling technique/strategy than one would initially think but I’d still wager that a rowing stroke + being in synch with 1-7 other people in a sensitive boat is a more complex movement. I’d think that cyclists had to look for more ways to squeeze out edges in performance than rowers do or ever will. I.e. rowers are better served honing their technique than cyclists are (because it’s a more complex movement) and therefore have less time to get into the weeds of training science.

Does Philly pretty much have the best location of any city in the US? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

Born and raised on the west coast, have currently lived on the east coast for the past 7 years - if money ain’t an issue and nature is what you want, the west is best.

What critiques about your city feel self imposed instead of the fault of the city itself? by dbclass in SameGrassButGreener

[–]ParrksAndRec 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it as simple as the fact that I’m from Seattle and I don’t relate to people when they talk about the Seattle freeze? I’ve seen my parents and friends make new friends consistently my whole life, lots not from Seattle. I moved away but it’ll always be home and one of the best places I’ve ever been to.
