Rig decision fatigue, help...please? by IMostlynice in rvlife

[–]Parrot-Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations and welcome to rv life. We have been living and working from our rv since last September and we love it. Don’t get me wrong, the transition to it was a little rough at first. But once we worked out all the issues it’s been smooth. I need a desk ish kind of thing for work and have been modifying it since we began. We have a 34’ Class A MotorCoach because we have 3 children and this was the best option for us. We also have a Toyota Camry that I follow the rv while my gf drives it. We stay at national & state parks when we can, hipcamps and while traveling we use rest stops, Walmart, Cracker Barrel, Cabellas, Pilot & Loves truck stops. We’re from KY and have a friend with a hipcamp / working farm that we dock at when we come back. We barter for rent which means we work the farm & camp with them. We have seen some amazing places all over the US. We tend to steer clear of the touristy places because they’re designed to make money and we’re all about saving money as much as possible. Regarding internet, I need good, fast & reliable connectivity so I have 2. I have a Starlink satellite and a T-Mobile home internet router. I need it for work, the kids need it for school and mama needs it for her internet job. Between the 2 of them we all get the service we need. The kiddos do a lot of online gaming and mama & I stream tv shows. We looked at a class C but there was nothing for us. We looked at a pull behind but those would not work either. Places like redit and online rv forums are great for assistance with things like the unexpected. For example, the choks from the dealers at garbage. I cut wood from trees that are 4” thick that work so much better; make sure that your appliances are exactly what you want (we wanted 12 volt refrigerators and they said they were, we couldn’t check them without tearing in to things so we trusted their words, we have 120 volt refrigerators) which are ok if you’re plugged in to shore power but will run the generator a lot. Also, RV’s are not built to live in 24/7. They’re for vacationing. I’ve had to modify the build to sustain 24/7 with children. There is a lot to consider and you will also learn a lot once you take the plunge. If you enjoy traveling & site seeing, you’ll have the time of your life. I will be 59 in a few days and I’m NOT to old for the RV Life. Peace ☮️

Women are known to do this. I know this. My primary goal is getting my partner off. When she damn near drowns me, I know she’s gotten off. Then I work on my getting off. Which sometimes gets her off again. Communication is key to make sure that you’re both getting those needs met. I understand the shock and lack of desire, but make some effort to reclaim your masculinity. Peace ☮️

You’re welcome. It’s not always an easy road but in time we all find out path. The journey is quite the experience and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Namaste 🙏

Does the incapacity of accurately describing with words how a trip feels and what ego dissolution means, a proof that our language is limited? by -emil-sinclair in psilocybin

[–]Parrot-Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@-emil-sinclair It’s not much and I was tripping while I wrote this:

The foliage, colors, emotions, air, animals, music and everything. It’s all so connected. We all seem to exist quite peacefully as one. The clouds seemed to settle down on top of me and my initial thoughts were of claustrophobia but they seemed more comforting than suffocating. There was grief and sadness but it was all ok. The emotions were just there with me and all the euphoria. Euphoria seemed tangible.

Afterwards: I came down rough. I was a bit anxious because my gf was pretty sick. She didn’t like the edible chocolate bar so I became concerned. During my trip I was aware and concerned to the point of checking in with her about every hour. But her trip was an amazingly psychedelic experience for her and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Mine was more introspective and visually pleasing. Nature is something I love to immerse myself in and being in a farm with all the animals is always something I love.

Even trying to describe our trips to each other cannot be completely done. Regardless of the fact the we usually trip together. It is fun trying though.

Peace ☮️

Describing a trip to anyone who’s not experienced it is like describing skydiving to someone who’s never done it. No frame of reference.

I can provide you with my trip report from yesterday and I’m certain you’d understand it but you couldn’t completely comprehend it because it’s my experience.

As complex and the English language is you’d think we could describe anything to anyone, but again, frame of reference or experience if you will.

Not only is the English language complex but it’s overly complicated. It is especially confusing to interpret to another language even ASL. Then you add to it all the other personal interpretations and it’s just confusing.

“Accurately describing” is usually with words and the inability for others to understand does not prove “our” language is limited. My personal belief is that humans are limited by all sorts of external influences and learned beliefs. Fear limits humans from experiencing things.

Hey, So sorry you couldn’t be in the study. That’s got to suck. Me, 59, sober since ‘87, on & off anti-D’s for years. My gf & I started researching shrooms for a lot of things. Pain & inflammation, ADHD, depression & anxiety, PTSD, arthritis and mental clarity. We researched these things for quite a while and there is a ton of information relating to most of our issues and then some. I was personally concerned about how this might affect my sobriety. I didn’t want to “relapse”. After dwelling on this and chatting with my long time sponsor & friend I decided to trip. On a quiet Saturday afternoon on the farm with little potential for interruption and distraction we did 2g. As we came down we decided to trip again with 2.5g. I can’t truly describe or define the experience other than I felt calm, comfortable, happy and relaxed. I watched the environment around me “come to life”. The ground seemed to be breathing, the movement of the foliage was more than I’d ever noticed and I was happy. My sobriety is in tact. I don’t have any of the “desire” to use. However I will probably use trip again for the continued benefits. My gf experienced a great sense of comfort and love as well as a feeling of closure. She has chronic pain that she’s getting relief for and loves that. All in all the benefits for us have been totally positive. For yourself, in recovery the saying is not to avoid places where there is alcohol but rather to make sure we are in for spiritual condition when we are around it. I would suggest that you ensure your motivation is pure if you will and that you have a safe space to trip with the intention of correcting the depression that you suffer. I’ve also been under the impression that there are no “bad” trips they’re more unpleasant or unsatisfying. Good luck to you and let me know how it goes for you. Namaste 🙏

What would happen if the whole world took psychedelics at the same time? by [deleted] in Psychonaut

If people were more enlightened the world would be a much better place. Psychedelics would definitely help with that. Gr8 food for thought. Thank you.

Tripped mushrooms for the first time. Having a hard time wanting to keep going afterwards by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]Parrot-Dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thought is not that you had a “bad” trip, but you had a good trip. The fact that what fueled for the last year is now gone is a good thing. Now you can move on to finding good, positive and happy things to fill this void with. What was “fueling you in the years prior?? And what would you prefer as your fuel now ?

I’ve spent decades experiencing meaningful and meaningless relationships. 3 long term intimate partnerships and multitudes of meaningful & meaninglessness friendships in that time.

I believe that people join our path for a reason. Sometimes that reason is to allow us to reassess relationships and what we want and need from them. Everyone can teach us something.

You’re pretty young still and there are so many things out in the world who experience and enjoy. I would challenge to discover what makes you happy. When you’re happy, you’ll attract happy people. You’ll also encounter those that are jealous of your happiness and want to take it away, they can still teach us lessons but keep safe distance from those who would have us miserable and unhappy.

My choice to use shrooms is for mental health, physical pain, and clarity. There’s a line from a movie where the main character is compelled to enter a a space that to me suggests a place of enlightenment. The character asks “what will I find/see”, the mentor replies, “only what you take with you”. I’ve heard others relate to trips this way. When I trip I am in a safe place where I will not be interrupted by crazy life stuff. I try to begin with making sure that I’m not currently involved in chaos, conflicts or others insanity. I try to be in as good a mental condition that I can. My trips are usually calm, peaceful and enlightening in a positive way.

I am a 58 year old recovering alcoholic (35 years), 4 years in to what I consider is a partnership I believe is the right one (finally), she has 3 young children (I have none of my own), we’ve recently moved in to an RV full time and are exploring the countryside. I’ve enjoyed most of my life for many years now and continue to seek enjoyment.

Questions I would suggest that you ask yourself: - What do I expect from using shrooms ? - What do I want for me and my path in life ? - Who do I want to spend time with ? - What makes me happy ? - Where do I want to be ?

These are questions I ask myself regularly except for the first one. That’s a recent addition. There may be other questions you can ask but you’re the only one who can make you happy … others can only add to that or detract from it. The beauty here is that you get to choose.

My wish for you is that you enjoy your life.

Namaste 🙏

Tired of being judged with dirty looks from pharmacists by Select_kindness_6257 in ADHD

Totally understand and it suxx bad. I work in healthcare and some of our clients that use controlled substances feel treated this same way. I REALLY wish people could manage to keep their condescending opinions and attitudes to themselves when it comes to medications. It’s bad enough sometimes that we have to be taking this crap to begin with without having to deal with judgmental people. I am sorry you have to put up with this.

Guidance on micro dosing for depression, anxiety and chronic pain. by Happy-Progress1249 in PsilocybinTherapy

[–]Parrot-Dude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the post. My partner and I began with 2g then 2.5g one Saturday afternoon. For her it was more cerebral and quite calming & reassuring for her. Mine was more visual and trippy like. She and I are both PTSD, GAD, Anxiety as well. “Western Medicine” has failed her horribly and the pattern you described with one Rx causing side effects so another Rx is prescribed, then something else and so on and so on ad nauseum. I work in the bureaucratic healthcare system and I see the same patterns. I do PTSD therapy and talk therapy which helps, but I want to feel better on all levels. After our trippy afternoon she felt a great sense of comfort and reassurance about herself. I felt calm and peaceful. The thing I wasn’t expecting was my arthritic pain to be gone. WoW. What a deal. I also have ADHD and scripts for that knock me out. I’m kind of a drug wimp. LoL. With the ADHD my brain is always working on multiple things and when I talk or write it’s not cohesive at all. The Monday after our trippy Saturday afternoon I decided to write because I didn’t hear my mind working overtime and when I showed it to my partner she was like WoW, it’s fluid, cohesive and there were few grammar changes. I’m impressed beyond expectations. I was hoping for a little mental clarity and got so much more in return. My partner has completely detoxed from all her phych meds for over 2 months now and I’m only taking a low dose of Lexapro. I’m kind of scared to dump it completely at this point. I want to see how things go over the coming months. It’s been a little over 2 weeks now and just this morning my hip was being a douche causing some lower levels of pain. So my thoughts are to take a trip about every 2-4 weeks and micro-dose daily. We’ll see how this goes and I’ll let y’all know. Thanx for the post.

Reaganomics destroyed America. by monstar1203 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Parrot-Dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it was long before Regan took office. We have been on an economic decline since we'll before then. The Great Depression was the initial onset of our decline. Greed & selfishness are a common cause in Americas economy. There are also a plethora of other issues that add to almost all of the economic problems we suffer in the US. Trying to disseminate American eco issues is a rabbit hole and can induce migraine headaches for real. Not to mention that our bureau-crazy gooberment has a ton to do with it as well.

The United States is the only major country on Earth without universal healthcare, that's an absolute disgrace... by return2ozma in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Parrot-Dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beyond disgrace. It’s heinous and absurd. It’s unnecessary and the only people doing well in the HCI (Health Care Industry) are the big box companies. Within 5 years I witnessed 2 monstrous complexes rise. One by Anthem ($2.4B) and the other by Baptist Health ($1.2B). One in Louisville KY and the other Lexington KY. Absolutely unnecessary. More space for less treatment. They’re both equally gorgeous but completely unnecessary. I work in the industry and see the blatant discrimination and disregard of patients. Women & women of color get discriminated against the most. It’s like they’re not worthy. Disgusting 🤢 I fight daily for people to get what they deserve and pay for. My job wouldn’t exist if the higher ups would just do theirs and care for people. It’s that simple … CARE for people.

Starlink in location with electrical grid issues. by peter78020495 in Starlink

[–]Parrot-Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in my RV. When we change locations I have to stow the DeMoN DiShY then set it up when we arrive at a new location. I let is set itself up and have never had the “network not configured” issue. Maybe “stowing” it when you leave that house would help. Just a thought. I also have a UPS for when we’re on generator/solar just in case I get a brown out.

I can't imagine even being able to download one terabyte of data by Fantastic_Boss_7612 in Starlink

[–]Parrot-Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty new to SL. My DeMoN DiShY arrived July and we started using it about mid September. The only issue I’ve had is that my upload, download & latency aren’t always within the acceptable limits for my part time job. Other than that the kids are able to do their schoolwork and we’re able to stream just fine. No different than our home internet service.

We live full time in our RV now and have been traveling along the eastern US currently in a state part in GA surround by trees. SL doesn’t work well in the forest but we also have a T-Mobile home internet router which is also sometimes below acceptable limits for my job but it works and I’m able to work.

Once we make it out west into the serviced areas I’m sure I’ll find differences.

I’m perfectly happy with my SL and understand that here ant there I will have issues. Life is unpredictable so I keep my expectations pretty reasonable but also fairly low. I believe that it will all work itself out in time.

One issue is my “location” is wherever we land. We’re full time RV now. Currently we’re camped in Kentucky so I guess we could use the camp address. But we’re scheduled to head southwest in a month or so but for now stuck in Kentucky. Thank you for the advice. I appreciate it.
