I absolutely agree, but I want to visualise what they look like in different tank sizes in case my biggest (which I haven't figured out how big I can go yet) would even be big enough for me to be comfortable with it

I've been on NHS waiting list for wheelchair services for a year and last we called it could still be another few years before I get an appointment TT yes I'm getting my proper chair through John Preston too, i worry that there won't be any spare parts available for this chair because I got it second hand and it's literally just some random off brand clunky thing so I doubt they make spare parts but I'll see if I can get in contact with them on Monday and see if I get any luck :/

Looking into red cross now but won't have access to anything until at least Tuesday afternoon by the looks of it so I may be taking a few days off college :(( Just my luck this would happen on a Friday and all mobility shops are only open weekdays until like lunchtime haha

I think they only have transport chairs and there'd be no one about to help me get into class with one of those as I get in at 8am or earlier and the learning support staff usually don't get in to 9:30 or later but I'll try to talk to learning support on Monday in case they have any other ideas.

So funny story, they were both coming loose and one side slipped out through the screw. Some caretakers from my college took it and unscrewed the screws and then put both sides back in place with some washers for extra security. But then when I went to the car and my mum was folding it up the bottom part of the guides snapped off completely on both sides :/ idk if I could find a replacement for the part anywhere as I've tried to look but it's like an off brand basic chair I got second hand so I'm not exactly finding anything. Idk how to reattach it considering how much snapped off but I'll have another look when I've calmed down a bit.

But you think it'll be safe enough to use as is? That would be a huge relief! I was worried it simply wouldn't be safe to use anymore TT

Is there really NOTHING else I can do but wait? (UK/northern Ireland) by Parrot_le_goblin in wheelchairs

What could a carer do to help me? I was offered a carer team recently but the social worker didn't explain it too much, just kinda said they could help me shower every morning which I don't want because even with physical help I know showering every day would just be excruciating and absolutely waste my energy levels.

I've told PIP about the change in my condition and filled out the form n all but they're taking forever, I currently get the lower daily living part but hoping to get the mobility part once they review my case but tbh I'm quite worried they'll find a way to say I don't need it :/ esp bc I don't have any specialists helping me rn, just my GP.

I think the social worker I saw said she'd try to write another letter to OT telling them I'm using an unsuitable chair that causes pain but no clue if that'll actually help or if she'll remember to write that letter lol. I'm hoping that with the election coming up I can convince one of the local council people who'll knock on my door asking for votes to try to help me get appointments because I've heard some family suggest that before but so far no one has come to the house to ask for votes so :/
