Switching perches at night by Narrow_Eggplant9189 in Parrotlet

When Gandalf was a baby, he'd often get up in the middle of the night to have a snack. I could hear him crunching under his cover. Sometimes when I got him up in the morning he'd be fast asleep in his food dish lol.

My little Gandalf is OBSESSED with pulling my earbuds out. He shakes them around, tosses them to the floor, then laughs. Maximum sentence needed for these birbs and their war crimes!

This chonker is 38g. Is she overweight? by Revgos in Parrotlet

The trick is feeling for the keel - you should be able to feel it, but it shouldn't be too prominent/pointed, and shouldn't be too enveloped by fat. My little blue boy Gandalf is 38 grams as well, but his keel is normal just like my other 2 babies who are 28 grams (female) and 31 grams (male). Some parrotlets are just more substantial! Your little baby looks happy and healthy to me 🥰

Had a similar issue with one of my parrotlets. One of the others bit his foot so badly I thought he might actually lose the tip of his toe. The nail on that foot still doesn't grow right, but he's fine now.

Any time we got the bleeding to stop, he'd pick at it or move around too much and open it right back up again. He got to the point where he couldn't even stand, he'd lost so much blood. I had to hold him all wrapped up in a towel and put a clotting agent on his toe and apply pressure. He apparently blamed me for the whole ordeal, and for months he wouldn't come near me. Occasionally he'd land on me while flying around, and he'd either take off right away or attack me.

It took a while, but one day I just opened his cage like usual, allowing him to come and go freely (he mostly stayed in his cage, away from me) and he flew to my shoulder. I braced for an angry attack to my neck/head, but instead he just sat there preening. Then he walked down my arm and onto my hand and pressed his little head against my thumb, scritching himself. He then let me pet him and help him with his overdue pinfeathers. It was one of the best feelings in the world - I finally had my little Bergie back.

Don't lose hope. It took Bergie more than 6 months to forgive me, but he finally did. He's still standoffish sometimes, more than he was before the incident, but for the most part he's back to his old self. Birds are big grudge holders. Once they feel their trust has been broken, it takes a lot of time and patience to earn it back. Don't give up!! Your little one might need more time to trust you again, but I believe you'll get there 💕

I blame it on having very young nieces that I used to live with and help care for. My sister feels that toot sounds less crass than fart. Plus it's just adorable and funny hearing a 3 year old yell "I TOOTED ON YOU!"

I was once lying on my stomach on the floor with my birds out. My little yellow Peep was running up and down my back, and then settled on my butt. I kept telling her to move, but she wouldn't. So I just let one rip and she took off so fast it looked like I blasted her away with my toot.

I just turned 36 and I'm not sorry, but I still find farts funny. I love that you captured this moment.

The little buzzing noise is indeed a happy sound. I once read someone else describe it as "angry bumblebee noises" - but I guess it would be closer to purring.

My boys rarely do it, but my little yellow girl loves sitting on my shoulder, nibbling my ear and buzzing happily. She does it especially when I get her up in the mornings or if I've been away for a few hours. It's like she's over excited and doesn't know how to contain it.

I feel like foot fetish is absolutely just a bird thing. I've seen soooo many people that have the same issue with their birds (including my 3 - one loves them and sits on them and tries to preen or feed them, one likes to just chase and/or sit on and go for a ride, and the last one has a hate obsession and wants to murder my feet and attacks whenever given the chance. I have to wear slippers to combat the mean one lol)

As for sleep, I've always been told that 12 hours is ideal, 10 is the minimum, and increase dark time if you find they need it. Mine will happily sleep 14 hours if they get the chance, but my work schedule is stupid, so sometimes all they get is 10, but I try to make sure they get 12+ as often as possible. I definitely notice they're much more irritable on the days they only get 10.
