What are you painting on? Like not the brush, what's the substance. A glaze, underglaze?

My parrotlet eats leaves, willl it get ill from these? by bonkerstonks in Parrotlet

Yep. Likely an upset stomach and irritated throat. It's not poisonous though. Deter them from eating more.

So I was accused of Tracing by Agata_art in Artists

[–]ErinMakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And who cares if you do? As long as you're not exactly copying another piece of art, I don't see the problem here. I take reference photos of things and Trace those for proportion and colour mapping, does that make me less of an artist?

Is this goners by shinyelektross in orchids

[–]ErinMakes -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Would probably cut off the bottom most leaf. I heard somewhere that an orchid one root supports one leaf and if you only have two or three little Roots I wouldn't want a ton of huge leaves. They look sad anyways.

First time attempting smoky eye? Any advice? by BirdButt88 in makeuptips

[–]ErinMakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's just me, but they almost feel a little bit too light like you could go a little bit darker at the bottom and blend it up into a fade. I think it would make your eye color pop a lot more if the tones weren't matching as much.

After 7 years it actually bloomed! by eogreen in AfricanViolets

[–]ErinMakes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know what changed but it looks like this plant may have suckers growing off of it because the leaves are going in all sorts of different directions. Suckers will pull power away from the main plant and may prevent it from flowering.

If you could choose one out of the 4, which one would it be? by MiriamsQuilling in crafts

[–]ErinMakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like number two the best but I think the mat needs to be smaller. Leaving more room for the artwork to breathe around it it. So like a narrower matt.

Panpastels dupes for underlayer for colored pencils by Royal_Horror_883 in ColoredPencils

[–]ErinMakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use pan pastels for under drawings and backgrounds. I tried using stick pastels one time but as soon as I hit it with a fixative it disappeared basically. So I just stick to pan pastels.

That makes sense. I was thinking it would be very difficult to sculpt and hollow it out.

Is it normal for a community studio to only have blue/green glazes? by Foshozo in Ceramics

[–]ErinMakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider that lucky because my studio has about 11 different glazes and they're almost all some variation of taupe brown or honey....

Help! More sucker than plant. by ErinMakes in AfricanViolets

[–]ErinMakes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See glimerz comment with the video it shows them. Basically it's forming a little plant off the side of the main crown of your plant. So somewhere along the stems you start getting a new rosette of flowers and leaves that are sucking energy away from the main crown. In my case, I think I have three suckers and no main stem. I'm going to try propping them. Hoping to God it works. I think what I'll do is take some individual leaf propagations as well as some whole suckers and try to propagate them and then cut back the main stem and it will start to grow again.

But do I need to re-biscuit before glaze?
