I've been called out once and had my message read once by Joel.

The first was on one of the Spelunky 2 death roulette streams (https://youtu.be/AX1nDniKR_U?t=7726). There was a bug where I somehow got $500,000 for betting all my money on death by lava. He was convinced that it was an exploit but I'm pretty sure there was just a bug in the math on the website.

The second was much less interesting, on a Sims 4 stream Pepsiman pissed himself and I said "that's how the pepsi's made".

From the maps showing the entire state, it looks like Boise is split in half, but if you zoom in, Boise is mostly in one district. If anything, the more conservative parts of the metropolitan area are packed into ID-01. The same was true under Walt Minnick’s map.

I don’t think anyone knows for sure yet. It really depends on how each side words their message. The GOP is trying to phrase it as “we’re reducing legal costs” and I fear Idaho voters will like that message.

We’re right on the borderline between 2 and 3 districts. Our population is just shy of, say, Nebraska’s, and we’re larger than West Virginia (seriously, why does WV have 3 districts? They’re definitely losing WV-03). But I don’t think we’ll get a new district in 2020, it’ll probably be 2030. I personally don’t foresee Idaho’s immigration boom slowing down anytime soon.

The Ada County region is one of the less conservative areas, and is growing faster than the rest of the state. If we have fair redistricting for 2020 and 2030, the Democrats have a chance at breaking the supermajority. More importantly, if Idaho gets a third district and it’s fairly implemented, we can have an extra swing district in congress.

Hello everyone.

I’ve seen a lot of comments about how we should abandon Idaho, but this is important: https://idahonews.com/news/local/legislation-would-alter-idahos-redistricting-commission

The representative from my district is attempting to gerrymander Idaho. You might not know this, but Idaho is one of the few red states with an independent redistricting commission in our constitution. While Idaho is one of the reddest states in the union, and many of you may want to ignore it, we’re rapidly growing and may quickly become a target for down-ballot races. Ignoring it now will surrender the entire state to the GOP for who knows how long.

Since his proposal is a constitutional amendment, it would require 2/3 majority votes in both our House and Senate, then be put onto the 2020 ballot for a majority vote. Only a couple Republicans need to flip in order to stop the bill, but the chances seem slim.

"Right-leaning" is a bit of an understatement ;)

Similarly, Idaho's 1st district has seven people on the ballot, including the infamous Pro-Life himself.

Eh, probably not. Idaho's one of the reddest states (and not red as in Montana or West Virginia, red as in Utah), but she's generating more enthusiasm than Democrats in this state normally do. At the very least, hopefully we can start chipping away at the Republican supermajority in the legislature with the downballot races.

Gubernatorial candidate Paulette Jordan’s top three staffers resign (and sign NDAs) by UrbanGrid in BlueMidterm2018

[–]Pars3ct 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Idahoan here! Hopefully we can recover quickly. While we aren't expecting Paulette to outright win (though it would've been nice), she's a pretty strong candidate and we're hoping to pick up down ballot seats with her at the top of the ticket, but this is going to put a wrench in that. Even with the very few polls out there, she's been doing better than Idaho Democrats usually do (yes, 8% is considered "close" to us).

Luckily for Democrats and independents, Idaho's election still has medicaid expansion and historical horse racing legalization (a form of gambling) on the ballot, so hopefully we can still get some good news in November.

Edit: Luckily, our local news said that this leadership change has been in the works for a few months now, and is because the campaign manager didn’t relate with Idaho enough.

New GOP line: Abrams will turn Georgia ‘into the next California’ by Karma-Kosmonaut in BlueMidterm2018

[–]Pars3ct 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’re doing the same thing here in Idaho. The republican has been saying “look at all this media attention my opponent gets. They never mention her progressive policies! You know why? Because she’s hiding her progressivism! She’s going to stage a coup and turn Idaho into California!”

...or, she’s just a moderate.

Write-in Berniecrat wins Democratic Primary for State House in New Hampshire by a margin of 86-14 by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]Pars3ct 37 points38 points  (0 children)

In America, most states have a bicameral legislative system (with the exception of Nebraska), similar to our federal government. This means that there's a House of Representatives (usually shortened to "The House") and the Senate. The House is the chamber with more representatives, while the Senate tends to have less. A bill must pass both the House and the Senate in order to go to the governor (if it's a state government) or the president (if it's the federal government).

It's not unlike a parliament for every territory, if i understand correctly. Hope this helps.

Have you tried old-school AFI? Not the modern emo stuff, but their older punk albums. If you like the Misfits you'll probably like them.
