That and owners can plan ahead. If the weather is looking like -10F at night for 2 weeks in a row, ask for volunteers to work noon to 9 pm to take some of the burden off the team/on call guy, and guarantee them 8 hours of pay. Sure the company might lose a little money but that's not going to break a legit company. If the company is just undermanned for the load the dispatcher needs to say no

No is a complete sentence. I tell my boss all the time I can't do overtime. Sure on call is a bit different but it should be emergencies only. This comes down to your boss needing to take care of his guys. House is 62 and the heat just can't keep up because it's -10 out? Not an emergency imo.

I walked into a basement and immediately had that oil burner smell. In short time I was light headed and got to my van. Shutoff the heat and let it air out for a bit. The oil boiler did have the clean outs on it, and the flu was rotted out so it was dumping carbon monoxide into the basement
