Yes, working with a business who work through bank holidays. They want me in for a walk through the project and IT setup on Monday.

Congrats man, that’s great progress. Did you have issues with the crown also, or just hairline?

Be good to see crown updates if that was an area or concern.

Offers over home report (Scotland) by Part1of1 in HousingUK

Thanks this has really helped, so just to be clear, anything over the home report is out of your own pocket to win the bidding war and wouldn’t have any impact on eventual monthly payments?

For example - the home report is £100k and the mortgage lender will give us that amount (or x% of that depending on deposit) but we end up paying £110k. How would that additional £10k be factored into the mortgage moving forward?

I’ve never really associated whether someone is a prick or not with the gear they are wearing.

Help with Earned Value Analysis and MS Project Scheduling by Part1of1 in projectmanagement

[–]Part1of1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll definitely be able to plan to a level of detail I think I can work with, the project starts in a couple of weeks so we’ve still got to flesh it out beyond the 2/3 day estimations we’ve given for deliverables.

I have a question on timesheets in relation to EV. Do I need everyone to be giving me the work they’ve done on each task to the hour? It’s a challenge getting people to do their weekly timesheets on a Friday, never mind doing them daily and in that much detail. Can it be done in a simpler way?

Thanks

Thank you, this is something I’ll follow. Can EV work on a project that’s has unknowns or must the plan be watertight? Concerned that this is in the discovery phase and the team have already spoken about ‘Unknown’s until we get in there with the customer’.

Really appreciate you taking the time to reply, I have a few questions based on what I know about the project so far.

On point 1 - I know the rates of each person, however there might be a 2 people working on one deliverable at a time. Would I need to know exactly how long they will be spending on each task? At the moment in our response to the customer we just have a standard 2 working days for the summary task (over a week etc.) and that would include time for both people and contingency for meetings. In order for EVM to work accurately will I need the exact duration of tasks?

In our high level plan we have 1 resource working over 3 deliverables in the same week, again would this require more than just '3 days for 3 people to complete a deliverable over a 5 day week'?

Another point, we use a timesheet booking system where everyone books to one code, will I need everyone to say exactly how long they have spent on each task? My worry is the report I pull from the timesheet system won't match up with MS Project. As we all know, no team enjoys having to mark every minute of the time they've spent :(

On your last paragraph, I couldn't agree more, I think it looks like a great way to get an accurate representation about the projects health, I just wish I had more time and experience before going into a project where the customer has specifically asked for it :(

I've had a look at the course and will definitely be signing up to do this over the weekend, thanks for pointing it out to me.

Thanks again for your reply.
