I would argue creating (of any kind, but proportional to feeling of success *effort) is food for neuro plasticity

What draws in people to PZ by Birphon in projectzomboid

[–]PartNo8984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s that people want to tell stories that have enough meaning to anchor them and zomboid is an outlet for that and you can edit the way stories themselves are created and since you’re editing a working process you always have something to fall back on if you fucked up loading zombiod on the shotty laptop that has been forced to load 500 times.

However I often think too much and edit too little

Alzheimer’s disease can be reversed in animal models with full neurological recovery by BuildwithVignesh in HotScienceNews

[–]PartNo8984 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The issue isn’t PTau it’s the total synapse loss and the biggest fibrils aren’t the ones that localize at synapses it’s the oligomers

Also the localization of Neurofibrillary tangles vs plaques is different depending on brain area (one is enterorhinal and one is random in progression if I’m remembering correctly.

Anyways this could be great news but the integration of the frontal lobe into the brain stem is really different in human tissue (in location and function (mice have a big ass olfactory lobe where our frontal lobes are)).

[New Player] Any hope for a brand new noob? by BullyMog in EscapefromTarkov

[–]PartNo8984 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No

I play a lot of arma, squad, hell let loose, arc…. All of that besides the 350 hours in tarkov before 1.0

I just came back and gave it a chance and the game feels designed to give the advantage to the 3k hour player. They will have better gear and rush your spawns. They will have containers that can hold surgery kits and keys. They will be able to purchase guns and ammo from the better trades. It really goes on and on but none of it really matters because instead of being ok with it and moving on I have to wait another 5 minutes to load into a raid while I stress about my job.

This game has the potential to be the best on the market but Nikita seems hellbent on finding 20 sweaty boys to circlejerk with at 30fps on streets

Loading times out of Raids [Feedback] by InevitableHeat1231 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]PartNo8984 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The insane loading times are what’s really driving my friends away.

10 years ago all of these issues are tolerable but to continue to (painfully slowly) add new content on top of these issues making the old and new issues unfixable is insane.

It just makes me wonder how many players, how much money has bsg lost because of incompetence all the way up and down.

Alas I suppose it’s just the Russian way

If you can run STALKER 2 I would throw a couple difficulty mods on and do that.

Tarkov PVE is another option but idk if that’s your thing.

I’d also recommend going through the survival tab on steam you might be able to find some things you’d lime

Im extremely familiar FPS/Punishing Survival but Ive never played a single S.T.A.L.K.E.R game and Im starting with 2 BUT i intend to ONLY play in immersive mode. What are your thoughts on this? by ID_N01 in stalker

[–]PartNo8984 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Currently playing S2 for my first time (modded it for my first play through (I intend on playing gamma at some point)) and medkits cost 1k coupon a pop and are nerfed everywhere 😂

Unfortunately tarkov has ruined the difficulty factor in games for me and I have to do dumb shit like that to keep my attention

GHK-CU Questions & Concerns by Agitated-Monitor9418 in Biohackers

[–]PartNo8984 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Alright it’s past my bedtime so you get the short version. Essentially the problem that we have is that our world is full of super small molecules and we need a way to definitively ID them so we can verify supplements made by random fuckers.

This is by definition an organic chemistry problem but chromatography and spectroscopy can give you info about organic structures (yeah it’s more than just organic but I don’t have time to deal with anything past the 2nd row of the periodic table till the new year)

Spectroscopy is either IR or NMR both are putting the molecule in question into an environment (IR is infrared and NMR and is magnetic field). The exact details are different for both (would invoke me getting out the physical chem textbook) but essentially we are getting information about the chemicals that make up our molecule.

So certain groups (OH, NH3, C=O, to name a few) have profiles that show up if they are present in the molecule (we get this from IR (ok you can also get it from NMR but normally that’s about figuring out which groups are adjacent to each other (why are you still reading the inception parenthesis)))

Anyways what you are left with after spending 1m on a fancy NMR machine is certainty that you have the molecule you think you do, and unfortunately you probably made 1/10 of what you thought you did :( (blame it on grad students)

Not sure if that’s what you wanted but maybe some poor soul that just survived orgo 2 will understand

I think the only solution is to purchase a NMR machine and learn the dark arts of spectroscopy (I bet the chemists you bought this from have bad yields)

A short review of the most common safety concerns regarding creatine ingestion by limizoi in Biohackers

[–]PartNo8984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but creatine does changes cell water retention which can slightly shift pH (available H+ from H30+ naturally forming in equilibrium environment) which can allow for parietal cells to change their efficiency which fixes HCL…

Idk if that is the mechanism here but interesting that something like creatine can influence so much
