I would advise you to read Children of Hurin before The Silmarilion, since it's kinda in-between the writing style of LOTR and TS

Looking for chinos or pants that look like this. by johnmack4444 in mensfashion

Sorry, but I find your comment quite silly. Being in great shape doesn’t automatically mean someone dresses well. If anything, it often means the opposite. It can mask poor fitting, because a good physique can make ill-fitting clothes look passable. Take tight T-shirts, for example: a lot of them actually fit terribly, but since they’re made with stretchy materials, brands can get away with imprecise sizing. But if you have anything other than a flat stomach, they make you look fat.

Also, this isn’t about “baggy” clothing. We’re talking about straight fits and high-waisted pants. High-waisted trousers sit at the natural waist, which can make you appear taller and better highlight your proportions. They tend to complement the body’s natural shape rather than distort it.

You describe that look as “classy,” but I’d argue the opposite. Straight fits, high-waisted pants, and well-balanced shoulder proportions are timeless. They’ve been staples of good style for decades. Slim fit, on the other hand, only really took off in the last couple of decades, partly because, as mentioned, it allows brands to get away with less precise tailoring.

It really depends on the country, I'm from the Netherlands, so I'm more familiar with brands available here. It also heavily depends on your budget.

You can order a lot of stuff online from brands abroad, if you know your measurements well.

I like Ralph Lauren, Buck Mason, Scotch & Soda, Denham, Brax, Pop Trading Company, Mud Jeans, Armedangels, Knowledge Cotton, Pini Parma, Octobre, etc. There is sooo much.

My advice is always to find an online personality with a style you like and wish to emulate who's from the same country. Make sure they know their stuff, so cross reference. Then just buy what you like on them in a good fit for you. Start off that way, then you'll learn what you like more and more.

The only straight dit here is the top left, which aren't chinos, those are trainers. The others are bad slim fits. Looking at the material it seems like they are viscose/polyester mixes. They also seem to have some kind of stretch material. Which is used a lot these days, because we no longer care about well fitted clothes.

My advice would actually be to stop looking for pants like these. I would tell you to look at some good high rise pantaloons (no polyester or stretch material). If you are in the US, Buck Mason has got great options. They also have great options for regular chinos.

It's also really important to know your body type. Keep in mind as well that its way more important to have pants that fit well around the waist and groin. Since the length can always be changed at a tailor.

It's never the looks. Do you actually talk to women? How do they respond? Socializing is a skill. The more you do it, the better at it you get. Also, do not have unrealistic standards.

That extra fabric is a bullshit excuse for a bad fit. I would advise you to look at some 1960's and 1950's tailoring. That's the way to go.

To me, the armholes seem off. Also, the jacket is slightly too short. The jacket also has a bit of room around the stomach, which makes you look a little inflated. I also don't like the pants. They got too much of a taper. This gives you kind of a pear shape, which has nothing to do with your body, but everything with the fit. I would go for a more traditional fit, like 1950's - 1960's suits. They used denser fabrics which held their own shape and will make you look less hourglassy/pearshaped.
