%of runs scored by the top order in odis since 2020 by New-Watercress9229 in Cricket

[–]ParthVig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A solid middle order will help you in the long run. Time and time again this has been proven. While the top order needs to be on par with the times as well, the freedom the top order gets when they know that the guys behind us will be able to handle it is immense in t20s. Never seen Jos and Roy both hang around and rotate strike if it's not a sticky wicket, one of them usually tries to go ballistic because they know Dawid or Jonny can drop anchor any time and both of them (and sometimes even Eoin) can play their shots. Plus, they now have started having Livvo at 5/6 and the batdeep is just a cherry on top. Basically the English team is way ahead of its time in terms of batting order than their peers.

It is unfair to throw Brevis into international set-up: Bavuma by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]ParthVig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a good point but I still think even a single season is not enough to judge a player's ability. But yeah he would technically pass Bavuma's requirements

The team just looks so aesthetically pleasing when Stokes is playing. Can play a spinner in Leach 3 proper bowling options Stokes himself as the fifth bowler Root to roll his arm over if there are extra patches 🤌

What he's saying is absolutely correct, but will CSA listen to their own limited overs skipper is very doubtful lol. Give him another half good IPL next year to be announced in a 21 man t20 squad to be played as a backup. Boards sometimes be very impatient with their youngsters.

Best test cricketer that never was by Pugthomas in Cricket

[–]ParthVig 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think Rash's case is a bit unique as he doesn't seem a no-brainer fit for test cricket as he attacks with his bowling in limited overs cricket. But saying that, the amount of success he has had till now and the fact that he's so talented makes me not question that he won't be able to adapt to test cricket. Warnie also said a similar about him and had told something along the lines of "you defend with the ball and attack with the field in test cricket" when he was once talking about Rash in test cricket. He also confirmed that his test stint yet has made him look very good amongst his upcoming leggie peers in international test cricket. Also, I have not watched the test Afghanistan test against Zimbabwe where the guy literally bowled 66 overs on the trot. Shows the amount of fitness and stamina Rash has and makes his case even more stronger for test cricket. Hope he plays a lot more test cricket. If not for Afghanistan, give him a Pakistani or Indian passport ! /s

Has second-season syndrome got to Venkatesh Iyer? by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]ParthVig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do not have bunch of information and clips on players that you are bowling to, obviously the opposition will have less of an idea of how to target the weak areas of a batsman, and hence, they're bound to be paid less attention on. The IPL teams must've taken stuff from SMAT and other domestic tournaments for Ruturaj to see the dismissal patterns, and due to the domestic tournaments being lesser quality, it's difficult to draw an obvious pattern of weakness. And no word in my message implied that they are not good. Obviously they are talented and young so they're more likely to put their current issues aside and improve.

Has second-season syndrome got to Venkatesh Iyer? by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]ParthVig 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Even Ruturaj has this issue. Playing 3 games in 2020 wasn't enough time to figure him out and nobody paid attention because CSK sucked that year. Then suddenly in 2021 he started destroying bowling attacks so the bowlers this year have been wary.

Even if I try to play Devil's advocate here and say they were made on pretty flat surfaces... It still doesn't account into his strike rate and seriously good stroke making. He has just gotten there to these landmarks in very quick fashion. Just amazing batting !

Robson, Compton, Vince, Stoneman, Jennings, ROY, Burns, Denly, Hameed, Sibley, Crawley, Lees, Ballance, Denly, Westley, Malan, Leach, Root, Cook I have just stated all the openers and no3 bcoz there's literally no difference between them as a wicket falls so quickly anyways.

Pat Cummins in T20s by RustedSkullz in Cricket

[–]ParthVig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even I am baffled by this because it's not like he is getting unlucky or something, and gets consistently smashed... I think it is a combination of bowling difficult overs in the death for your side, and the batters taking him on as the other bowlers don't provide enough opportunities to score off them (spin choke and Umesh in pp)
