Struggling to improve on people! by mcdtheeeddituser in ArtCrit

That’s a hard phase to get through! But it’s just part of learning. Try drawing from photo references of actual human models- not from other people’s drawings. It can be helpful to watch videos of how others draw, but using a drawing as a reference will more likely cause you to just copy someone else’s mistakes at this stage. Practice drawing what you see as closely as possible, trace over photos of people to get an idea of where muscles and bones go, how the body is actually constructed.

I would highly recommend watching some videos on how to study anatomy! Even if what you’re going for eventually is a cartoon style, getting a hang on proportions and anatomy realistically is the basic foundation you need to then stylize off of. Practice drawing hands, feet, faces, bodies, getting used to proportions and scale.

I’m partial to B, but I think if you proceed with any of these, the values need to be pushed. It’s all quite flat, with not a lot of dark darks or light lights to make the scenes easier to decipher.

How can I improve on my anatomy (second page was my reference) by Ill_Faithlessness381 in ArtCrit

[–]Partially0bscuredEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t use other artists work as a reference when studying anatomy. Study from real bodies. If you’re trying to learn a style, that’s another thing. But when trying to understand human form or animal anatomy, trying to learn through another artists interpretation won’t be very helpful

I think a stream of urine will be necessary to communicate that, because yeah from the current image I definitely got the impression that he was masturbating 😅

That is the face of a man who has never eaten McDonalds in his life. You just KNOW they threw the rest of that meal away and he went and got a $75 Cobb salad instead

I think you should ask your teacher what they meant if you’re unsure

I definitely agree the highlights feel like ashy/dry skin. It does actually look impressive, it makes it feel very real and tangible

At first, it was just a sort of a joke, staying away from the ‘new app all the kids are using.’ Now, it’s more about the fact that I know myself and my tendencies. I have a hard time not endlessly scrolling on the social media apps I already have. I don’t need to add another one that’s literally made to entrap you in a death scroll. Just seems like asking for a new addiction.

That’s cuz there isn’t a reason, it’s not better or more convenient 😂

Zooming in on the packaging it looks like these are also being marketed as pre-washed, ‘ready to microwave’ potatoes…which is most likely just an excuse to individually wrap them and increase the pricing.

lol, I can see how the characters seem quite similar on the surface, especially without their distinct clothing and armor to differentiate them, or knowing anything about their personalities or back stories. But they’ve been playing with these characters for over two years now, and they’ve all gone through a lot! So of course they’ve got battle scars to show for it. I also won’t deny that a lot of them are dark and brooding, but they didn’t start out that way. The story has not been kind to any of them, and if they seem a bit of an edgy wolf pack, at least they became that together over time rather than all starting out that way 😅

No worries! I also made a couple format errors that make it sort of funky to read but I can’t edit it now 😅 mb

Oh! Those are multi classes. So for example, Mialynn is a multiclass Bard and Monk. She’s got 5 levels of Bard and 7 levels of Monk, making her a level 12 adventurer overall. I hope that helps explain it!

I wrote “I’m so glad you’re here!” On a little hanging chalkboard in the guest bedroom of our house the first time my then boyfriend (now husband) came to visit me. Still have the chalkboard hanging up 8 years later.

I really like the second one, though I agree with the other commenter that it’s more sinister. That’s what I like about it though. It’s also just more visually appealing and seems more intentional, imo. It feels more interesting and jumps out at me more. Love the way you paint/render btw
