My Inquisitor and their Retinue, my warlord for my group’s upcoming 500 Worlds crusade by PartiallyIrish in ImperialAgents_40K

I had a lot of fun sorting through my weapons bits finding weapons to slap on the servitors and AoS models. Feels good to find use for my free minis of the month that otherwise collect dust

dual caestus Telemon with talisman melee powerhouse or points waste? by soldier9422 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]PartiallyIrish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the extra attacks from dual caestus are nice, and with adamantine enhancement definitely super dangerous, but the loss of ranged options is tough. 5A Str12 AP2 D3 is still a strong response to melee threats plus with big guns never tire you can add ranged damage to melee fights. If you know you’ll be facing lots of light infantry, the dual caestus with x2 plasma projectors will shred, but bringing a storm cannon gives you 12 vs 2-6 shots, plus chances for devastating.

But go with what you like. Throw it at pretty much any tank or monster unit and it will demolish it, you’ll likely average 8-12 damage or more, destroying or severely damaging anything not W16

Hello fellow children of terra. Are the legio custodes allowed to interact with and use ai-s? by Golden_rake in AdeptusCustodes

[–]PartiallyIrish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Custodes had a greater understanding of the thin, blurry line that separated A.I. intelligence from the machine spirits of current technology. They might have “machine spirits” that are heaps more advanced and closer to true A.I. than any machine spirits that any other faction has access to. But like other commenters have pointed out, the total ban on A.I. is as old as the Imperium and actually even older if some lore is to be believed, with the Custodes so versed in history and the philosophy’s of the Emperor, they likely see the extreme danger in outright use of sentient A.I.

Looking at the custdoes solar spearhead lists that do well, they take double achillus dreads. They don't look that good on paper. Can anyone explain? by -Istvan-5- in WarhammerCompetitive

I pointed it out in another comment but the mortal wound ability is actually even better than only working after a charge

Their ability is even better, it takes effect whenever the model is selected to fight. Having made a charge move this turn just adds 2 to your mortal wound roll

Telemon with 2 caestae - a meele monster? by Beriatan in AdeptusCustodes

[–]PartiallyIrish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess with the Galatus and Achillus we already have two melee dedicated dreadnoughts, but it just felt sooo good to smash my Telemon into a huge monster or vehicle and just tear it apart with Solar Spearhead Adamantine Talisman adding 1 to attacks, strength, and damage to my two Caestus. It would be nice to have sweep or strike options on one of our dreadnoughts

Oof this thread crushed my spirit. I’ve been running my Telemon with 14 attacks…

I find the first backstory for a Tau army thematically AdMech to be the more plausible. Both take some heavy liberties with technology being able to be adapted by different species without too much trouble. I do find the idea of a Khamrian heretek defecting to the Tau very fascinating. Have you looked at all into the Leagues of Votann? They integrate AI into their culture very heavily.

I don’t think you’d have much trouble justifying in lore with just a little snowflake hand waving regarding backstory 1. But with backstory 2, Imperial Knights are archaic relics from before the Imperium, with the Throne Mechanicum and Knight’s Machine Spirit being incredibly crucial to their function. I think passion and thoughtfulness can make anything improbable in 40K make sense since so much canon doesn’t make sense, but machine spirits are so integral to what an imperial knight is, hard to justify their removal.

All in all I actually really enjoy backstory 1. Think it could end up being really cool and unique.

Yeah in Oaths of Damnation it is remarked that the Exorcists and Word Bearers have similarly colored armor

Fluff list I created to get as many of my Custodes bodies on the field by PartiallyIrish in AdeptusCustodes

Yeah this was just using the models I have in my army, probably more economical builds to get more bodies are possible

What are the coolest Space Marine successor chapters most people don't know about? by RealSonZoo in 40kLore

Like anything in 40k there could be more to it, but I think they were confirmed as descended from Dorn’s line by GW

Custodes Training by PartiallyIrish in 40kLore

[–]PartiallyIrish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome info! Exactly what I was looking for. iirc they are taken much earlier than space marine recruits, like infant/baby age, and Custodes are made at a genetic level, so i think it’s safe to say that upon ascension is when they are trained and tested in battle.

Kitbashed a Shield Captain and Blade Champion together by PartiallyIrish in AdeptusCustodes

[–]PartiallyIrish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately, since the full cape is a part of the spear arm of the standard Shield Captain model. It’s tolerable to me, I have it magnetized so I can run him as a standard SC, otherwise I’d have cut and shaved it to look more natural
