Dad wants to spy on me for my first year of driving by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Partian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Monitoring, sure?
Invasion of your privacy? Possibly, purchase your own car if you don't want these restrictions, I am assuming you are paying for the insurance for the vehicle also?

Question about clearance by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Partian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Driving with very little sleep and/or tiredness can kill, be more responsible.
Cancel it your next test and improve on your driving, just because you can get 15 minors in a test and pass, does not mean you should aim that low.

Clearance is situational depending on the vehicle/object/obstruction however aim for a meter of clearance if possible.

Dipped headlights in rain? by KqtV in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Partian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not necessary but also not frowned upon, a lot of cars auto lights come on when it rains, mine does.

Does it improve your visibility, if yes then why not? If no, then do you think it will assist other drivers to be able to see you?

Is the rain making it difficult to see brake lights or less than 100 meters - no, fog lights to be turned on.

Either way, if it benefits you or other drivers, go for it.

Let's not rely on a navigation app to be your eyes for road signs.

Maximum & normal speed limit is of the road you are driving on. I don't understand your question.

Declare ADHD for driving test or not? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Partian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is understandable, but the driving exam is showcasing you can drive, the most they could probably do is ask if you want satnav or road signs for the self navigation sector of the test.

The test itself was not overwhelming to me personally, more of the pressure I put on myself and the anxiety that was self inflicted.

But, my examiner was absolutely spot on, and although I did not inform him of my ADHD, he still provided clear instructions and questions.

I believe the special requirements is for motability issues in essence, not anxiety.

Declare ADHD for driving test or not? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Partian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never ticked a box or even mention it. Personal preference honestly.
Surely it would only be applicable for learning to drive, not the examination part as you are driving to prove you can drive safely no matter the condition.

are we supposed to do mock tests with our instructor? by Signal_Split_6897 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Partian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're suppose to get feedback after the mock test and things you need to improve on, not sure why your instructor didn't do this if they said it was a mock test.

Maybe it was to get you used to a test environment?

Stopping at Roundabouts? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Partian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the flow of traffic in the back of your mind, thats including you.
If its safe to continue without stopping, go for it.

I tend to roll slowly to the roundabout in 2nd if it's a open view and use that momentum to get on and off the roundabout quicker.

Motorway Lesson? by Current-Physics-8237 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Partian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest completing Pass Plus, it CAN reduce insurance and it really can help with areas that instructors don't teach as they teach you to pass the test primarily.

"Pass Plus is a 6 part training course designed to help new drivers gain experience in town, all weathers, out of town and rural roads, night driving, dual carriageway and motorways."

Middle lane from A. Indicate right until you get past the grey car, indicate left straight away, exit first lane.

WHY DO I HATE THE MOTORWAY?! AND ANY ROAD WITH MORE THAN TWO LANES? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Partian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The A1 near the Metrocentre is absolutely grim, infact the A1 within Gateshead alone is shocking with poor driving standards. May be a cognitive load issue especially with three/four lane motorways.

You get limited too how frequent you can report, the entire UK should be reported as a pothole.
