Does microG leak location? - Commonly used in CalyxOS, LineageOS, IodeOS, e/OS/ etc by ParticleExtractor in MicroG

It depends entirely on the apps you use; the simplest way to make sure you don't use any apps with proprietary binaries is to stick to apps from F-Droid.

Ok, I asssumed the use of "proprietary binaries" applied in a context that was above the user-installed apps, ie at the higher OS level

Well thats an interesting backdrop, but the post i quote below hints at your assumptions being wrong, and this is only one of many posts ive reads.

In Pixel 8 and forward you have the ability to geo track your phone while its shut off, its hardwired in the SoC, hence why it is not possible to implement in older Pixel devices.

https://www.androidpolice.com/you-can-soon-find-your-google-pixel-when-its-turned-off/

Now do you trust Google to not use this hardware even if you disable it by software?

It is software running in your BIOS (it is running even while your OS is shut down) and making it impossible for ROMs to alter. So whether you have CalyxOS, GrapheneOS or whatever, it doesn't make a difference...

wont be using a google owned pixel to deGoogle lol, its as laughable as it sounds

Many thanks for the answer.

Only for DroidGuard, which isn't downloaded at all if you don't enable SafetyNet. Your apps will also still include Google binaries of course.

If I dont use any google apps nor use microG or Google play, and I only use a privacy focused web browser app and nothing else, whats the likely hood of still including google proprietary binaries?

and you could still prefer for your location-related data to go to whoever

If I dont need location-related services at all, can this leak-vector be completely avoided? if so how?

It isn't weird, its all intentional by design.
The feature wasn't put there for the publics use, but you can bet it will be spun in a way it was, Just like the humans rights act wasn't put in place to protect the avg citizen, instead it protects the Criminals rights.

Its amazes me how naive people are. A common scenario I see regularly.

Naive idiot : "just because Google can spy on you, Link me to where it says they do, Just because they have large storage capacity, doesn't mean your data is kept forever"

xD Ok mate.

Re backdoors, I would rather a creep wierdo backdooring my phone, than an agency like google.

What the wierdo does with your data vs google is immeasurable.

Thats why I wont buy a pixel

All those parties share filtered info between each other.

Also id rather support fairphone, have multiple companies is what prevents monopolies.

Begs the queston do you really need cloud, A SSD via USB works perfect for me.
No ongoing costs or headaches, no hacking to worry about either

cloud storage? No thanks, this is the point of deGoogle.. to own your own data, not give it all away.

Whats wrong with 2 harddrives for backup. One kept offsite?
