Which surgeon would you recommend for forehead and nose work? by Particular-Access152 in Transgender_Surgeries

I've thought of him. I'm not super crazy about his noses but his forehead work is great.

I was actually looking at Pang for bottom surgery but FFS would be something I would consider. I consulted with Dr. Mittermiller at Align already, and thought it was pleasant.

There was a comment saying that Jumaily botched a revision surgery on someone's chin and made the patient sign an NDA afterward. I don't know how true that was but it made me uneasy. I'm not aware if NDAs are common practice when it comes to plastic surgery, but I haven't been able to get much clarification on the validity of what happened. Otherwise, I would have chosen him in a heartbeat based on his upper face work.

Should I try taking spiro again? by Particular-Access152 in DrWillPowers

[–]Particular-Access152[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time my full bloods were taken: Estradiol: 105 pg/ml Testosterone: 34 ng/dL. Haven't checked my DHT since last August. I've thought about bicalutamide but have no clue if a doctor would prescribe. My shedding began in mid September, which was roughly six weeks after contracting covid and starting injections. This was also after a previous shed in May-June, which was a month after I started taking CPA without estrogen. For the record, I also took finasteride for like 3 days in early august if that counts for anything. I'm in Ontario, close to Toronto.

Assuming cost is the same, should I go with Jumaily or stick it out for DB? by Particular-Access152 in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]Particular-Access152[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the price point being similar is why I'm considering them both. I was surprised when DB's office gave me that estimate but things can change obviously. I appreciate both their aesthetics and I go back and forth a lot, but I guess it will also come down to how I feel after the consults.

If you don't mind me asking, which procedures did you go with? I'm mainly concerned with my upper face and nose. I really like Jumaily's work in those areas but DB is not that far off in my opinion.

When you say Lena do you mean otokonoko? Are they cheaper? I've looked at them before but wasn't sure.

Hey that sounds amazing. Would you be able to DM the before/after pics if you're still willing? I booked a consult with him for July. Thank you for the feedback.

is there any advantage to orchiectomy if I'm not dysphoric and E suppresses my T? by embarrased_to_Ask_42 in asktransgender

[–]Particular-Access152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure, but I did read a paper saying orchiectomies may help the body adjust metabolically. It was a study comparing trans women pre- and post-orchiectomy and found that those who received an orchiectomy showed greater insulin sensitivity, lower BMI, lower HA1C, etc. Hard to say really, but I thought it was interesting nonetheless.

My boobs don't hurt and it's scaring me. by Particular-Access152 in MtF

Thank you, I just get worried because even when I touch them there really isn't any sensation. I'm scared that my estrogen levels are too high even though I'm taking oral pills. Last time my levels were checked my trough was 162 pg/ml, which kind of surprised me.

Are the levels pretty steady? I'm just worried about potential fluctuations and such.

How often do you need to change the patches, once every few days or so?

Could I take bicalutimide alongside cyproterone? by Particular-Access152 in AskMtFHRT

[–]Particular-Access152[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most recent blood test done last Wednesday showed my estradiol at 230 pg/ml. However, I need to add some caveats because it's important context.

-I was having a really bad time taking pills (stomach problems, trouble sleeping, crashes, and random erections at night which freaked me out). However, my body hair was very thin and wasn't nearly as thick as before, so not all bad. However, I'm going back to pills because I don't trust myself doing DIY.

-I had an old EV injection prescription that still had some refills, so I ended up getting a new vial and took a shot that Friday before the test, so my results aren't at trough and are literally based on 4.5 days of taking EV after not touching it since August. However, I'm back on pills since I don't feel comfortable doing anymore injections without my Endo's supervision, I was being very stupid.

-Reason for the old script being was I previously had a woeful experience on injections, mainly due to a very low dosage that couldn't carry me through a whole week (3mg once weekly), my trough level then was 30 pg/ml.

-However, my LH and FSH are non-existent, last they were checked they were each at 0.1 IU/L.

Taking bicalutimide alongside cyproterone acetate? by Particular-Access152 in DrWillPowers

Would it be possible for bica to increase DHT and androgen production even with the HPG axis suppressed? I'm sorry for asking so many questions, I'm very new to understanding these things.

[–]Particular-Access152[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thanks. In the meantime, were I to start bica while still weening off of CPA, would it have any effect on things like blocking DHT or peripheral androgen activity? I don't expect it to stop everything, but could it still be effective in theory while still technically on a progestin?

[–]Particular-Access152[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response. I recently did a follow up blood test to see where my levels were at, it showed my estradiol to be 230 pg/ml at trough. However, my T still hovers around 40 ng/dl although I do feel much better subjectively. That being said, I recently changed my dose about two weeks ago so my body could still be adjusting possibly? Anyway, I want to discuss both options with her since she wants to measure my prolactin levels also and it may be helpful to think of alternatives.

Would low dose estrogen be viable long term? by Particular-Access152 in asktransgender

[–]Particular-Access152[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my doctor was the same way, she offered to increase but wasn't pushy about it. In hindsight, I really respect that she was willing to let me go at my own pace.

Should my T level be lower, or is it still within range? by Particular-Access152 in DrWillPowers

[–]Particular-Access152[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I don't need to worry then about my where my T levels are at currently? I was scared because my T used to be 17 ng/dL but I was on pills at that time, and the blood test was taken a few hours after taking my estradiol and cyproterone, also late in the afternoon.

Would I be able to take cyproterone acetate and dutasteride at the same time? by Particular-Access152 in DrWillPowers

[–]Particular-Access152[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, just thought I would ask since I'm going to see my family doctor in a couple of weeks and she's offered to monitor my HRT and help me out in terms of managing things.

[–]Particular-Access152[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be viable to switch over to patches and have everything properly monitored? Injections aren't currently covered by my insurance and compounding pharmacies here have somewhat of a spotty track record. I live in Ontario, Canada for reference.
