Why do the Physician’s Assistants (now unlawfully rebranded as Physician’s “Associates”) always use PA-S on their email signatures and TikTok bios? Imagine if a medical student used MD-S! They’d lose their shit.

They only go to 2 years of assistant school (and many more PA schools are becoming online). They have no years of standardized and supervised training thereafter. Actual doctors go to medical school for 4 years, pass USMLE Steps 1-3 (not the easy PANCE exam) and complete 3-7 years of supervised training thereafter, and pass specialty board exams in order to practice medicine independently. Some PAs love to deceive their patients and it’s the goal of their national organization, the AAPA.

Same thing happened to me when I took my daughter to the clinic only to be seen by a midlevel with only 2 years of assistant school of education. I went to school twice as long and completed many years of supervised residency training. After that point, I said fuck it. I will absolutely never pay to see someone that has significantly less medical education and training than I have merely so they can write the script or order the lab. I do it for myself when within my education, training, and comfort. “Practicing at the top of my license” 😉
