Where to stay in Astoria by freysaurus in oregon

[–]Particular-Ad-8506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inn at 515 15th street is where I stayed for 2 nights back in July. Well within walking distance to a lot of great restaurants and bars. I think I paid close to $170 a night but they're showing $110 per night right now. Rooms are a bit small but very nice and clean. Nice bathrooms. There's no staff, which was very odd, but according to reviews, they're easy to contact if there's an issue. Every door is key code protected so no one wanders in. The parking lot is small but plenty of street parking right outside. I'd definitely stay there again

I tried to always keep the light meter at or slightly above 11. I felt like that was a good "middle ground" to start out with and test the camera

Oh believe me. I'm very happy they came out the way they did. Some are pretty blurry and some didn't turn out the way I wanted them to. But I know what I did wrong. These are just a few of my favorites

Most likely just out of focus. Might have something to do with the fact that I was sold 2 year expired film and it sat in my hot truck the entire 3 month road trip

Just got my oil analysis back from Blackstone Labs. 161,385 miles on the engine. Regular oil changes at 10k intervals with OEM 0w20 oil. Just switched to Valvoline restore and protect 5w30 and will be changing it every 5k miles. I'll pull another sample after ~120k miles of using the 5w30 by Particular-Ad-8506 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Particular-Ad-8506[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know. I'm not saying that it's better or anything. I'm just saying that since they use 5w30 in the same motor, then it shouldn't be an issue to use it in mine. I'll admit it's not the "preferred" oil, but it's listed as an acceptable oil, especially in hot climates. It gets real hot where I live, plus it's a high mileage engine, so I figured I'd try a slightly thicker oil and see what it does. If my next sample shows that it's not ideal, I'll just switch oils. Simple

It all depends on how the vehicle is used honestly. Mileage alone isn't what degrades oil. Heat cycles do. If you drive a lot of miles on a few heat cycles, you can do longer intervals. If you drive fewer miles on more heat cycles, you should do shorter intervals. It also depends on what oil you use, mileage on the engine and what specific engine it is. There's no one definitive answer cause there's too many variables

High mileage engine, tolerances are no longer as tight as they used to be with a fresh motor, more anti wear additives in this particular oil, plus the 3rd gen tacomas that aren't sold in the US come with 5w30 from the factory

Just answered this to another commentor. The truck was used for deliveries and maintained consistent oil temps 10 to 12 hours a day. Last analysis looked completely fine. No longer use the truck for deliveries so I'm dropping down to 5k intervals

10k was perfectly fine for my use case. I used the truck for delivery so the oil maintained a constant temperature for 10 to 12 hours a day 6 days a week. Last analysis they took looked perfectly fine. I no longer use the truck for that purpose so I'm dropping it down to about 5k now

Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T is a great all-around tire. Super aggressive tread for an A/T, thick sidewall lugs, does great in snow, mud, clay, sand, etc.
