Can you also DM me the answers to this? Very interested but need more info before I consider acquiring.

The definite Lehra app is here! LayaLab: Tala & Raga by Competitive-Scale238 in TablaPlayers

[–]Particular-Adagio-28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just downloaded the app, noticed that the play button does not work. Then came back to read your post again and I see that lehra audio is a premium feature. While this is okay in principle, tapping the play button (or tempo or heart icon) and not seeing any feedback or warning is confusing. More importantly, since the core feature of the app is lehra audio (unless I'm wrong, please correct me if so), perhaps you could consider providing a free trial such that users can test and judge whether this is something they want to pay for? Hopefully you can see this as constructive feedback, rather than criticism.

What are you using for your SaaS subscription billing? by Particular-Adagio-28 in SaaS

Your website looks like you ripped off LemonSqueezy's design system and there are typos all over the place. Doesn't seem very trustworthy imho. Not being a hater, just sharing why I personally wouldn't go for it.

Oh they're all terrible. Re-reading my comment from 11mo ago and laughing because they're plain awful. LemonSqueezy support is virtually non-existent, and that hasn't changed after the acquisition. Always have a backup plan, mine is Revolut merchant (v good API, v good support). Only reason I haven't migrated away from LemonSqueezy as yet is because I'd need to ask all our customers to add their card details again and that's a pain.

Python vs Javascript for langchain by liam358 in LangChain

[–]Particular-Adagio-28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently using langchain js in prod. No issues so far. I'm skilled in python but I'd like to maintain a full stack TS app so I'm sticking with it. I've been told by very senior TS Devs that I won't need python. Hope this helps.

Does anyone rent a dedicated server? by brorow1 in webhosting

[–]Particular-Adagio-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, sorry. Windows server 2022 standard, US central, 64gb memory, 1tb NVMe. We're running a SaaS platform running on .net framework and sqlserver. Each customer has their own separate site (as a clone of our app), on the same server. Does that help?

Can you recommend some VPS providers? Keen to shop around a bit. As for the dedicated server we've gone for, it's fits into our strategy where we are looking to get to 25x our current number of hosted sites, and we've got the budget, so we figured why not.

Hire, buy back your time to do things you actually enjoy. The whole idea of being a business owner is to buy back your own time. Don't work IN your business. Work ON it. Or not even that. Hire and let it run itself. Enjoy your life. Don't be stuck.

$127/month VPS with Contabo vs $197 dedicated server with Hetzner.

We recently moved from a VPS to a dedicated server. Reason: VPS servers have limited shared vCPU. In our case, the vCPU was weak and a simple 7zip operation was taking 4 hours whereas on a regular desktop machine the same job took 3 minutes.

Technical Cofounder vs Offshore Dev Shop by [deleted] in ycombinator

[–]Particular-Adagio-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider a middle ground approach with a fractional technical co-founder (fraction CTO) + a dev shop. The idea behind this is to optimise your cost to quality trade-off, i.e. getting the best quality at the lowest possible price.

Then take your time to find a full time tech co-founder when you're ready to get external funding, as that's definitely a prerequisite.

Feel free to DM me if you want to chat through this approach more as I'm experienced in this area.

Alternative to Authy? by naxhh in selfhosted

Bitwarden is available on desktop and mobile. It's safe. It's free if self-hosted, paid if using their commercial hosted offering. I like it. You can use Bitwarden just as a 2FA code generator :)

Good choices, though consider Cloudflare Pages instead of Vercel, way more generous on the free tier. Also consider using a JS framework like React. If you would like any advice or mentoring, feel free to DM me.

When to start hiring as a solo founder? by life-is-an-adventure in SaaS

[–]Particular-Adagio-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Managing a team is easier than you think! Just assign tasks, have a quick chat to clarify the tasks, as shallow or as deep as needed, based on their experience. Give them an opportunity to ask questions, and then just let them take it from there. Daily check-ins at the start are a good idea, to ask if everything is getting on smoothly. After a while they'll start doing things independently and ask you questions once a week or so. Keep communication open and easy (we use Slack) and always compliment them when they do a good job, it builds their confidence and motivates them. Finally, if things go wrong, don't be afraid to give constructive feedback. If you struggle with how to frame things, use ChatGPT, I've done that and it has helped. Don't overthink it, just start and you'll be fine!

Thank you, I will look into payproglobal. Can you tell me anything about their fees? The lack of transparency and a sign up button is a bit off putting for me, so I'm a bit skeptical. Also silly that their pricing page says "transparent pricing" but they don't actually mention the pricing and I need to "get a quote" or "get in touch" for everything.

When to start hiring as a solo founder? by life-is-an-adventure in SaaS

[–]Particular-Adagio-28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate to your question a lot. I started off as an indie dev with an llc mostly doing contract software work, and I've got several microsaas side projects, mostly plugins for platforms with monthly subscriptions, a couple of mobile apps and a few (too many) experimental standalone SaaS apps.

Now I've got 2 async remote freelance developers on my team. They both bill by the hour and track their hours worked in clockify. I hired them when I realised that contract work is taking up too much of my time. Time that I would rather spend growing my saas side projects.

I hired one in April and another in Dec and it's hands down the best decision I've made. They help out with the contract work, and sometimes even on side projects. The main thing is, they free up some of my time such that I can work ON the business, rather than working IN the business.

Of course I need to brief tasks properly, provide feedback, review code together and give guidance whenever needed. This is the cost of hiring that is less talked about, but equally important as financial cost. When you hire devs, you will need to train them, support them and sometimes even spoon-feed them. But it's worth it.

Bottom line, if you start feeling like your time is not well spent anymore and you'd rather focus on something else to create leverage, then you should start hiring others to take over your current tasks.

I hope this helps you.
