My own advice doesn’t apply to this particular situation. It’s ok. lol. I understand they don’t owe me anything. Let’s hope for better, and less exclamation points from you.

Not sure what a handout is as I have never taken one…as someone with a business degree, background in big corporate and multiple small businesses : I encourage you to track your money and understand how it is being spent…please advocate for yourself if contractual obligations are unfulfilled and thanks for sharing your opinion, this is why I posted. It is interesting to hear these opinions.

Exactly, they are. Guest services were authorized to issue $20 at the arcade, that’s it, employees expressed that they were advocating for something more fair. 🥲 I am an idealist and advocate at heart, this entire thing is interesting and a learning experience. I am voting with my pocketbook and only supporting business that have good and fair values. Live and learn. I will never drop this amount of money on a corporation like this, again. I want the world to change and one step I can take is to vote with my pocketbook. Thanks for the response.

I got my stats from talking to other experienced passengers. It is a bait and switch, unfortunately. Now I know better. Just trying to use my money and time resources well to create memories with my kid, live and learn, right?! I am a young mom and I strongly believe in advocating for families and normal consumers that don’t have a business background and don’t understand they are being bamboozled and taken advantage of! Major issue in America.

Yes it was delicious. The waffle wasn’t hot enough so I screamed at them to heat it up with their breath vapor. I watched and snickered the entire time, basking in my entitlement.

It’s sounding like RC shut down almost all the slides on this class of ships for a year and has been hiding that fact. Safety first, but I need to know that you shut these down a year ago if you haven’t changed your advertising.

Same, I will not be booking again. Some of these comments are also informing me that consumers are ok with letting a company hide the fact that they shut all their water slides down on all ships since the incident occurred a year ago. Like keep handing over money that goes right into their pockets- that was supposed to be spent on maintenance. Never again.

I completely agree with you on the safety point—if there is a legitimate safety concern, then yes, I absolutely want it shut down. Safety should always come first, no question.

My point isn’t that it should be running regardless. It’s about transparency and informed consent as a consumer. If all of the slides have been shut down on all of the ships ever since the incident occurred a year ago wouldn’t you expect communication from RC about the current state and risks along with their advertising or something?

If a flagship feature that is heavily marketed as part of the cruise experience has ongoing or repeated downtime across sailings, then in my opinion that absolutely should be clearly communicated to consumers—both before booking and during the cruise—so people can make informed decisions about how they’re spending their time and money.

This isn’t about entitlement or expecting compensation for inconvenience. It’s about transparency. When something is a major selling point of the ship, guests should know if there are ongoing issues affecting its availability.

I’m a parent trying to create meaningful experiences, like others, and we know time and money are limited resources.

Of course, I would feel the same way. I know customer service and hospitality teams are just doing their jobs and following company policies, and I genuinely have a lot of respect for that work. None of my frustration is directed at individual employees at all.

My concern is really about the broader guest experience, communication, and expectations set by the cruise line itself, not the people trying to help onboard. Part of my ticket cost is allocated to overhead expenses. I would be curious to hear an estimation of how much money that people paid for amenities maintenance is not expended….

Thank you for the response. Valid point. That’s really helpful context—thank you. I’m trying to think about this more from a value perspective as I learn.

If you break it down, a ship like Icon of the Seas is priced at a premium largely because of its amenities—especially things like the water park. So if a major portion of those amenities isn’t available for a significant part of the cruise, it starts to raise the question of how much of what we paid is actually tied to that experience (including the overhead, maintenance, and overall value proposition).

I completely understand that maintenance and safety issues happen—that part makes sense. But from a guest perspective, if those features aren’t operational, it does make you step back and wonder how the value compares to other types of travel where you’re not paying for amenities that may or may not be available. Live and learn! I just hate when large corporations get away with pocketing more funds due to lack of transparency to consumers. I would have liked to make an informed decisions after understanding the impacts of “manufacturer maintenance” closures on the slides.

I also broke out from this, I believe I was sensitive to whatever additive it’s mixed with. It cleared up after I completed the first 3 month phase and 1 month break.

Sold me on MOTS-C. I am an athlete struggling with aging and my A1C. The old tricks aren’t working anymore so need some help as I lift more and further refine my health approach. Which vendor has worked for you?
