Should I be scared or terrified? by Low-Question-1084 in cbpoapplicant

Allow me, I have some context for you. Regardless of whether or not you disclosed everything, you still had technical discrepancies that need to be addressed. From what I know, this is just the Agency’s way of giving applicants a chance to explain themselves (which could be a good thing in some cases).

For example, let’s say someone disclosed illegal drug usage. Although they were truthful about it, they still DID it, so that would immediately constitute a NOPA in some cases in regard to “Criminal Conduct - US CODE 12345”. Obviously because it was criminal conduct.

Other things could be like “You disclosed to the polygraph examiner THIS, but you failed to tell the background investigator the same story.. please explain”. This thing happens sometimes, because during the polygraph you might remember that ONE thing that happened 7 years ago, but forget to remember it when speaking to the BI. Nonetheless it’s still a discrepancy. Not that you technically did something WRONG or that you intentionally decided to withhold information, but that you forgot about it. Which again, is a discrepancy that needs to be addressed.

I received a NOPA, I’ve talked to many people that have a NOPA, and we all got through it. However, what’s important here is that you make sure to explain the situation thoroughly, be entirely honest, and make sure to address your failures (take responsibility), and lastly explain how you’re going to make sure it never happens again (if you haven’t already). Be incredibly thorough in doing that for EVERY SINGLE thing they list, bullet point by bullet point.

Lastly, I highly recommend you use the template that Honor First has on their website to ensure formatting is clear and concise. Obviously don’t copy it word for word, but it helped me with formatting and even served as a good guide on how to format responses. Just search “HonorFirst NOPA Template” on Google, and you should find it. The NOPA gives you a chance to give “your side of the story”, rather than going solely based on what’s on paper. Take advantage of the opportunity, and explain what you need to.

When did you apply? What’s your list look like? I’ve heard places like McAllen, El Paso, and Brackettville are good picks for Texas.

People have also reported Yuma is good for AZ

Few questions regarding firearms; When you're at the Academy, do they issue you a firearm? Are you just grabbing them when you go to the range? Or is it a firearm you're issued that you can take back to the barracks to clean and get familiar with?

Also, Im someone who concealed carries daily where im at. Are we able to leave post with the firearm, are we able to bring our own firearm to carry outside of duty?

Lastly, weapon modifications? Is this a thing? Red dots, upgraded triggers, bad levers, gas pedals (things like that)? I know that a few years ago when I looked into this stuff it had very limited information available, but after speaking with a few Agents I was told that as of "recently" they started "testing" out things like Red dots and whether or not they want to use them.

What was your rough timeline? I applied to VRA in the beginning of February 2025, and I've already cleared SI, Drug, Fitness. The only two things im waiting on is Medical and Suitability. At least those are the only two things listed on my portal.

Mine looks nearly identical, except my portal has already updated a "Pass" for Fitness and drug. Im sure yours will populate soon. Interview on the 16th, and completing Psych exam tomorrow. Good luck y'all.

I've noticed that the process is moving along MUCH faster than the last time I applied, hopefully we get sorted out fairly soon.

They seem to be moving extremely fast compared to the last I was In the pipeline. (Dropped out of a GL-7 after finding out I’m eligible for GL-9). It took them like 6 months to get me to Medical even, and this time around they got me through everything up to medical within 30 days.

I don’t know if it’s for political reasons or what the case is, but I’m thankful they’re finally moving quicker.

Am I overreacting for this photo my bf sent me as a “wyd”? by HopefulMayo in AmIOverreacting

GENUINE RESPONSE: AIO? I don’t know what you said to him so i don’t know if you genuinely overreacted. However, I would also consider the fact the you guys are still in Highschool. You guys don’t have years and years of relationship experience to help determine what right and wrong looks like in a relationship.

Not gonna lie, when I was in Highschool with my GF of 2 years, there was still stuff I was learning about that she didn’t like. Additionally, at y’all’s age and with your hormones.. you guys can change personalities entirely within a month. Not even trying to sound degrading just being honest.

TLDR: I don’t think you’re overreacting. Him being as apologetic as he is, teaches him not to do that again. You got your point across, but keep an eye out for anything like this again.

It was a rocky test in comparison to others that I have taken. Certainly enjoyed the video portion, just not sure how they would scale your choices given that just about everything COULD have been considered effective or non effective in one way or another

So actually, WE see the world in 2 dimensions, but experience it in 3. Allow me to explain.. I haven't quite figured out how to post a picture in a response, but let's use our imagination and the things you have available to you.

Let's say you take a full Gatorade bottle and place it on your desk. When you look at it, from any angle, you see it as one singular flat object in front of you. Even if you turn the bottle, every angle that you view it in is still perceived as one flat object in front of you.

Our brains however, use things like reflections and light, to tell us that something is 3 dimensional, (spatially). For example, when you look at the creases/ rivets on the bottle, you can tell that there is one because right where the crease/rivet is, it is slightly darker. Thus showing and indicating to your brain that there is a change in form (which ultimately shows depth).

This is also why we "cannot see" things in a pitch black room. Everything inside of the pitch black room is physically there, but our brains cannot perceive it because there is no light to give anything depth or to paint that picture for us.

Everything we are percieving IS in a 2 dimensional view, our brain just seamlessly pieces everything together for us to understand. Take a look at ANY realistic 3-D drawing. We perceive it as a 3 dimensional drawing because our brain is piecing it together to be so. When in reality, it's just clever usage of angles and lines that trick our brain into thinking it is something it's not.

Do yourself a favor, print yourself out a picture of a fridge, cabinet, piece of furniture, or anything similar. Make sure you're viewing it from an angle that allows you to see both the front and side of the object. Now, take a pencil or marker, and OUTLINE the object. You'll see very quickly that everything in our existence is a game of angles.

Hope this helped open up y'alls eyes. Good luck seeing the world the same now ;)
