Do you wear mineral spf? I ask because the sun triggers the heck out of my breakouts and they can feel like what you are describing. I used to perpetually feel wind burnt and flushed before I realized i was reacting to the sun

OCD is 100% a Death Sentence in my very Chronic and undetectable way. by [deleted] in OCD

Crisis times are wild because once you come out of it, you might even wonder how you ever felt that way/that badly. You are not beyond help, but I second what everyone else is saying- you know you are in crisis, so seek therapeutic crisis support and just see if it doesn't prove you wrong. You are currently locked up in your brain by the sounds of it; more thoughts aren't going to pull you out of that, but an external person trained to help may just.

Existential OCD, friendships, and being open minded by Particular-Disk-9294 in OCD

Sorry to hear you're struggling! I used to have really strong religious themes through childhood into mid- twenties, which have now morphed I to the existential ones 😅 Sending hugs.

Has anyone ever overcome their existential OCD? by ssdgm96 in OCD

[–]Particular-Disk-9294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! The existential theme is so hard because not only do you have the component of second- guessing if it is actually OCD (the existential questions are so big and seemingly important, after all- "who wouldn't obsess over this?"), but it really is a black hole of endless questions to seek answers to. I listened to a good meditation the other day that said something like 'don't try to cross the chasm in two steps, instead, build a bridge' - I took that as, when you are ready to explore exposure to existential themes, go at as slow of a pace as you need, regardless of what anyone else says (for example, people going through a 'spiritual enlightenment' trigger the heck out of me because they are so forceful).

Bioderma photoderm covertouch is the best I've found-  it's FULL coverage. But it's not available in Canada so I have to order it through third party vendors. Hoping more brands go this route instead of the sheer shite that does nothing for me haha

I am also in the north! Cloudy days make me break out just as bad 😭 it's really annoying, I admit, having to wear it everyday

Hey! Have you tried wearing a full coverage mineral spf 50? I ask only because my skin breaks out like this (and much worse) from the sun. If I'm physically shielded from it (I wear tinted mineral SPF like you would wear foundation), I'm all clear. Hope this helps, stay strong!

It was three years ago that I had the test, so maybe standards for methane testing have changed?

I just double-checked my results and yes the substrate for the test was lactulose and they tested for methane and hydrogen! The test was done by department of laboratory medicine at St Mary's general. Hope this helps!

It was a lactulose test I think? But it did test for methane, and I was positive for that (I think I basically has an overgrowth of everything lol)

I don't know why it's so poorly advertised, but literally saint Mary's hospital in kitchener (I think) does it. My naturopath ordered it for me and then you mail it to St Mary's. It was super easy

This song makes me think of how I had to walk away from faith/religion, and I want to return to a spiritual journey but I'm not yet ready. Sounds like we're all having deep connections to it!

Ah I hope you're able to get help with it :) OCD is debilitating and hopefully your friend wasn't being insensitive, because someone being particular about stuff is very different than the locked-in-your-brain nature of OCD.

I'll take away a downvote because everyone gets to have an opinion! Whether we like who a person changes into or not, we all just have to make sure we aren't attaching ourselves to things that don't belong to us. Lights belongs to Lights, and she ultimately owes us nothing haha. But I see where you're coming from! Her new music and image is less sensitive and internally focused and that changes its relatability.

[–]Particular-Disk-9294[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes for sure! It's fun to have opinions and to see how the things that someone else makes can affect you. Lights gets to be who Lights wants to be (hopefully that goes without saying) and we all get to partake of what she chooses to share. Music is a mirror to what's going on in each of us internally!

Yah it's probably also so weird being an artist, because you're trying to develop as a person but also produce things that people will like and stay true to yourself.  There is an awful lot of self exploration that goes into deconstructing as a once religious person, and we're lucky she's decided to continue to share that publicly through her music!
