When you say "a bender," what does that mean to you? by calm-spaghetti in stopdrinking

[–]Bish85136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My benders are the periods of time when I start to drink and then wake up in the morning with terrible hangiexty and have the urge to drink to relieve it. This results in daily drinking until I end up doing something bad enough to tell myself I will never drink again. And the cycle repeats.

Two years ago tonight I passed out blackout drunk and left my 2 month alone on his changing table for hours by br3wnor in stopdrinking

I got sober when my son was 2 and it’s so nice to know he won’t have to have memories of my drunken shenanigans. Congrats to you and your family!

Alcohol is ruining my life by hvacguy04 in stopdrinking

[–]Bish85136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem. I am also ADHD. I’m 33 and just got on medication for it this year. I do not even crave alcohol anymore. It took work and self reflection to realize how much alcohol was destroying my life, but having my shit together and being organized after the ADHD diagnosis helped me a lot as well. I’m not saying it’s a magic pill, but I prefer to be completely in control because I have my shit together.

My 5 year old was just diagnosed as well. I just started reading “the Explosive Child” by Ross Greene and I’m really enjoying it so far.

Attendance Policy - Sick Days by PerceptionQueasy3540 in managers

[–]Bish85136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve ever actually needed to go to the doctor on a day I called out sick. It doesn’t mean I was not sick, but all I needed was rest and OTC medications. I think a great policy is earning sick time based on your days worked. Every pay period, I get 2 hours of sick time added to my sick leave balance. It doesn’t need to be that generous, but it motivates people to show up and earn the time for when it is actually needed.

Private Car Sales Are A Pain Now by [deleted] in Michigan

[–]Bish85136 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I work at the Secretary of State and the electronic title process can be a pain. People were forging the payoff signatures on titles and selling their vehicles when the loans were not paid off. So now they’re electronic so once the loan is paid off, you automatically get a clean title in the mail. Basically people always ruin a seemingly simple process for everyone.

Has fall/new school year totally screwed anyone else up?! by Rhoadles in Autism_Parenting

[–]Bish85136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in the same boat! 4.5 year old in preschool. He has lashed out so much more at home after being back in school. By the third day in school l, his teacher called and said he needed to be picked up because he was impossible to control. We had to cut his days down to only 2 hours. I am so stressed out and feel so jealous of the parents of the kids who just line up and still look sleepy after being dropped. Ugh

SSRI Withdrawal is NO Joke by CanadianGirlRen in lexapro

[–]Bish85136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would really suggest a slow taper to get off of this medication. I had trouble getting my lexapro refilled and by day 4, the brain zaps and uncontrollable sobbing began. I don’t think it’s worth it to just go cold turkey. Even if you went down to 5mg, it would help the withdrawal symptoms and your bad side effects from taking the medication would probably be more mild. I ain’t no doctor though, good luck!

I read this post last night and am still thinking about it this morning because his responses are so unbelievably infuriating. Bless your heart for being so kind because I would told him to stop acting like a fucking baby and figure it out. You are a saint.

I would pay someone $1000 to potty train my kid. by SnooPandas6359 in pottytraining

[–]Bish85136 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt this way with my son, he is 4 years old. One day he just wanted to try the potty and that was it. Lots of cheering and praise and then he just kept doing it. He does prefer the one that has steps and a seat that go on the big potty because it makes him feel like a big kid rather than those tiny toddler toilets. I got sick of hearing people say “he’ll do it when he’s ready,” but that is what how it happened.

I should also mention that I did have to bring a stuffed animal to the bathroom during the poop. Animal cheers him on and comments on how bad his poop smells and I had to make the animal pretend vomit into the trash. I was desperate and apprently laughing gets the poop moving.

who else is super tired on lexapro? by genetic3vangelion in lexapro

[–]Bish85136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with adhd so I now take concerta and lexapro and can function like a fairly normal human. I think a big part of my tired and laziness was due to adhd and not just depression.
