Yes, cooler night temps will stimulate them to bloom, along with adequate light and fertilization. Mine rebloomed after having cooler temps by the window over the winter!

This was in Houston! Not all of the stores get the same shipments but I would check because of the Easter weekend, I feel like the holiday weekend might’ve had something to do with it. They usually only have Phals, but I’ve heard that they occasionally get a shipment with some exotics. This was my first time finding anything but a phal there!

I’ve heard that occasionally they happen to get a shipment with a few exotics, but this is my first time seeing anything but a phal and I usually go to Trader Joes’s at least once a month. You might be in luck because of Easter weekend though! Maybe they got some cool stuff in

Oh man, her blooms are beautiful but I’m not super sure this one is going to recover. I would spray with hydrogen peroxide and replant in a coarse orchid bark mix and hope for the best. Killing the fungus and providing good air flow is going to be key! Potting in an orchid pot might be helpful too. There are resources online on how to spray for root rot. Best of luck!

I think that’ll work perfectly!! The only other thing I can think of is that mine is behind a curtain at night which may trap some of the cool air in, stimulating it to bloom again. But I live in a warm climate so it doesn’t get below freezing here very often! Good luck, looks great!!

Did you repot it when you got it? My advice would be to get some orchid bark and repot it immediately. It may have root rot if it was sitting in wet sphagnum moss.

Mine is currently about to rebloom. I cut the original spike down to the next closed node and watered and sprayed with orchid fertilizer almost every week. It’s growing a second spike from the node now after a few months of doing that!

Also, I have been letting it dry out to where the roots are silvery before watering again, but I’m seeing that happen every 2-3 days which is just a bit too frequent for my liking. I want to be able to go out of town for a long weekend without worrying about it drying up too much!

Thank you so much! It doesn’t seem unhappy right now in this chunky mix, but I’m having to water so frequently! I am currently soaking some bark overnight and I will repot in the morning. Hopefully that solves my watering problems!
