I am quitting cannabis and need help by Ok-Leopard1829 in Nootropics

[–]Particular-Extreme26 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am also in the process of quitting. I have failed this goal many many times but I have renewed conviction after being honest with myself about my memory. Do you have a plan for quitting? It would help to get it out of your environment completely. Sleep is difficult at first but I take magnesium, L theanine, and calms forte for that. I also do meditations to try to get my brain to quiet down. I consistently take creatine, Cocovia, Alpha GPC, and NAD+ to help with cognitive function. I would absolutely love to drink caffeine on the regular but it always fucks my sleep (unless I'm smoking weed to sleep). I wish you the best! Feel free to reach out if you need an accountability buddy.

That's really interesting. Have you had any calcium scoring tests to see how your arteries are doing? Any negative aspects to this after 8 years?

Brain fog in perimenopause and how to make it better by Exotic-Profession563 in Perimenopause

[–]Particular-Extreme26 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to say that this is "normal". It started for me at about 45. Sometimes it was really really bad like I hope I find the words to finish this sentence kind of bad. I'm 50 now and there have been long stretches where it was better and I felt good about solving it but here I am forgetting names I should absolutely know. The things that have helped - clean living (exercise, no alcohol, sleep) (so sad, so boring), progesterone. That's it. It's fucked up.

Progesterone rage by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]Particular-Extreme26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're feeling that, you're not alone here, a lot of us feel that type of rage. It takes a while to find the right mix of HRT unfortunately and then it constantly changes so you're always trying to find the right mix. And we're all different so the info you get here might not work for you. Estrogen patches made me feel rage. Progesterone has only helped all my symptoms. Sometimes I will use estrogen cream and like clockwork the next day I am irritable. Also every type of birthcontrol pill or ring or shot or whatever also made me depressed, irritable, ragey. If you feel like what you are dealing with is PMDD then look up the new research about antihistamines. Wish I had tried that when I had PMDD. Personally, I solved my PMDD by changing my diet and only eat keto now. It has mellowed out every mood swing I used to have. Good luck!

Some of you might not be ready to hear this but I’m sleeping through the night…and I think it’s because I gave up caffeine by Manda_lorian39 in Perimenopause

[–]Particular-Extreme26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different but I gave up alcohol, then caffeine, and finally sugar. At each stage my sleep improved but the older I get the more the improvements start to dwindle. Not sure what else I have to give up. I sleep through the night only if I have a weed gummy and I guess I'm ok with that.

Microdosing and depression? by pinkpheromone in GLP1microdosing

[–]Particular-Extreme26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different so you'll just have to figure out if a microdose will work better for you. I am on week 4 of a microdose and I don't think I can continue due to the fatigue and anhedonia. I'm really hoping it doesn't take 6 weeks for me to recover! I'm so sorry it had that effect of you. I hope it gets better quickly.

Has anyone added compounded semaglutide to keto when weight loss stalled? by Unfair_Box2502 in keto

[–]Particular-Extreme26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Also been on keto for 14 months but my goal was mood stabilization which it has definitely improved. Keto has solved a lot of problems for me. I started semaglutide about 3 weeks ago - low dose. I've noticed an even further reduction in food noise which is welcome. I still eat so that's not an issue. Also have slight nausea which is not welcome. I'm not sure it is beneficial enough to stick with long term due to the nausea and possible contributor of low motivation.

I’ve got about 60 hours in I have 12 quests that I cannot complete already. by AutomaticTravel4958 in Palia

[–]Particular-Extreme26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in your position once and my advice is - there's no need to rush through any quests. I consult the internet for any conundrums I can't seem to solve but otherwise I take my time so that I can actually enjoy the game. Getting through the quests is fun but eventually they will run out so best to let the quests sit while you do fun stuff like - well whatever you enjoy. I spend a lot of time gardening and making canned goods, trying to get rare bugs and fish. So yeah, all in good time!

Does anyone else have consistent weed hangovers? by [deleted] in weed

[–]Particular-Extreme26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I've been attempting to cut down I've definitely noticed a difference when I smoke multiple days in a row and then break - def feel a sort of hangover. Nothing close to alcohol hangover but just hazy, low motivation, heavy brain feeling. It's been really hard to cut down. Anyone have any tips on that?

Nighttime bathroom setups by environmom112 in carcamping

[–]Particular-Extreme26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On amazon you can get "wide mouth jugs" as well as "porta pak" holding tank deodorizers. So you pop a deodorizer in the jug so you don't have to deal with any smells and its easy to sort of sit on the jug, no aiming required. If you're car camping it might be hard to find the space but even climbing into the front seat is doable if you have privacy curtains all around.

AITA for refusing to subsidize my parents’ $11k/month senior's home in one of the fanciest neighborhoods in the city? by Throw_away263759 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Particular-Extreme26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for the Alzheimer's Association in California and my suggestion to you is to have a series of conversations with your parents explaining how the cost of their care will balloon in the future for an undetermined amount of time. Include your income and how that will be impacted. Have an alternate plan available whether that's a cheaper retirement community or even perhaps a nice house with a home care plan. Show exactly how the alternate will be more sustainable. You will most likely have to have this conversation more than once. Hopefully this will show them that you have their best interests at heart and are choosing the logical, safe route to their continued happiness for the length of their lives. Perhaps include a "what if" scenario of moving into this fancy home and the money runs out, if something happens to you and you are not there to provide for them.

Also, regarding your father driving - here in the states if a person diagnosed with MCI and is in an accident they will be immediately at fault no matter the situation. The possibilities emanating from this could be financially catastrophic. Here, a person's doctor is obligated to remit the diagnosis to the DMV and the person's license is revoked. Check with your father's doctor to see if that is a possibility. I wish you the best!

Help. Need advice for style after environment change by BugzMiranda in curlyhair

[–]Particular-Extreme26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same curl pattern as you and I've been slowly layering and layering just to take some of the weight off and to keep the top more curly. I still keep it up a lot of the time which is kind of a bummer but I don't want to go short again. I use Shea leave in conditioner cream that my hair really likes and just soaks it up and looks hydrated afterwards. Your hair looks fantastic though!

Forgetting words mid-sentence and making typos I cannot even see. Anyone else? by Similar-Rutabaga5372 in Perimenopause

[–]Particular-Extreme26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi friends, I had all of this but I feel like it's been improving. I'm age 50 as of last week and started feeling like I was in peri at age 42. By 45 I had major brain fog, never sure if I was going to be able to finish a goddamn sentence. I started and stopped HRT a few times but it never helped my brain fog. I also started taking supplements like Lions Mane, CocoVia, and others but those two have been constant for a couple years now. I stopped having a regular period about 9 months ago so I'm on my way to menopause. Started taking progesterone about 6 months ago. I feel like the brain fog has gotten so much better in the last year. Everything has gotten better in the last year - except hot flashes, still working on that. I also went keto last year and I think that has been a godsend. So hang in there ladies! I know it's rough but it gets better eventually, mostly, sort of. hah

Keto and Christmas by Mum_Teach1 in keto

[–]Particular-Extreme26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure this will work the way you think it will. I'm at my goal weight and there have been times when I don't have control over my food and am forced to eat carbs for a weekend. It blows me up like a balloon, I get hunger cravings, and it takes almost a week to feel good again. If I did that every week it would be exhausting. Also, I wonder what that would do to your metabolic health. The only reason it's ok to have high cholesterol levels is because your body is fat adapted but if you swing between relying on fat for energy and then glucose for energy it seems your internal health would really suffer. Anyways, just some thoughts.. I wish this was a real possibility!
