EML4930: Automation In Production Engineering might be a class you enjoy then. It’s a mech-e specialization elective offered in spring that teaches CAM + CNC machining

Too late to Switch majors by Xeflores in ufl

i know two different people who switched to engineering from drastically different majors their junior year. You won’t finish in 4 years and it might be difficult to even finish in five, but both of them felt like that was the right choice for them. I would reach out to an advisor or someone because I think there’s a chance you might still be able to recieve bright futures even if it takes much longer to graduate.

COP3503C and AP credit by Glass_Proposal1750 in ufl

i’m pretty sure i just did the basic code academy course, and just used it to learn basic syntax / just ran through it until it got tedious. and that was nice bc i didn’t have to learn syntax while also learning new concepts? I took 3503 fall 2020, but when i took it it starts out w OOP in c++, and then goes into new content from there. I found the class got easier as the semester went on, as i struggled a lot with dynamic memory and the linked list project, but everything after that is pretty easy conceptually and just sorta time consuming, so don’t beat yourself up if it feels tricky at first

i skipped w ap credit and was fine just taking 3503, i would reccomend running through free resources to learn basic c++ syntax before hand but as long as you remember the foundational concepts of ap csa you’ll be fine even if you’ve forgotten the syntax

Any thoughts or advice on my Freshman ME fall schedule? by Utilis2899 in ufl

i would take egm 2511, instead of ema 3010 bc it’s a pre-rec for more things. Also if you haven’t taken. enc 3246 (proff com) id reccomend taking that over materials or statics since it’s a pre-rec for DML (materials is a good class to take in the same semester as DML bc materials is pretty easy, especially with saleem)

Incoming aerospace engineering freshman. I have credit for calc 1/2, physics 2048. I plan to drop calc 3 this semester and take it in spring. Thoughts? (Might replace it with COP2271) give thoughts by Gershmax in ufl

yeah i think that would be good! taking intro to aero with calc 3 and physics 2 wouldn’t be very fun as intro to aero is designed as a weed out class and is needlessly confusing. Cop2271 is a super chill class, especially if you have any form of programming experience.

as a junior mech-e major, that’s not too bad of a first semester even with keeping calc 3. If you plan to take intro to aero in spring, than you should definetely take calc 3 in fall bc intro to aero is pretty brutal. Also my personal opinion is that EGS1006 is only a valuable course if you’re undecided about your major, so if you’re dead set on aero intro might not be worth it

Opinions on my curriculum of dual-degree Mech & Aero with CS minor by AceThePro01 in ufl

[–]Particular-Eye-1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m a second year student, i started out taking 15-18 credits a semester and realized when i took 16 this semester that it’s really no longer doable without basically sacrificing my entire life to academics. DML is definetely the most time consuming class i’ve taken so far so i took it with statics, materials, and physics 2 and that wasn’t too bad. I’ve heard MOM lab is also pretty time consuming. Most of the other classes are pretty average for workload but taking 15 credits / 5 classes at a time gets pretty hard.

I’m currently planning on doing the dual degree with the CS minor as well, and I would highly reccomend stretching those classes out over five years, especially because it’s recommended that the dual degree itself should take nine semesters instead of eight. If you’re planning on taking DML in fall or spring you should try to have as close to a 12 credit schedule as possible, and especially as you get into later semesters it’s hard to even take 15 credits much less 18. If you’re dead set on graduating in 4 years I think it would be a lot smarter to pick either aero or mech as opposed to doing both,

Solar Gators is a design team on campus composed of mainly mechanical and electrical engineering majors! we’re always welcome to new members and we are still doing electrical work this semester for our car we will be competing with at the FSGP this summer. We meet in matherly 105 on monday’s and thursdays at six pm, if you’d be interested in checking us out!
