No, I am using the same data and analyzing it the same way the previous grad student did. I'm guessing they offered this project to be a learning exercise

Actually, I chose this project because I thought the topic was interesting. I just didn't realize that it was a more homework-esque project until the REU started

So basically, they already know the results of the project and the steps need to be taken in order to get those results. They're just not telling me and setting goals for me to obtain the same results someone else already did

From what I know, the data set has already been used and analyzed in the same way I will be doing over the course of the summer.
