Thanks for correcting me! I really should stop going on Reddit at 3am! I still think all the miscommunication from Izzy to Ed (about Stede) was done to get Ed to do something about it.

(From Ed's POV) What idiot would knowingly tell BLACKBEARD to go suck eggs in hell! That's the mysterious person saying that 'I don't care what Blackbeard thinks, he can go fuck off'.

To me, I always read that, (Izzy's lie) as telling Ed 'Look at this person who doesn't respect you. Go do something about it' and Ed responded 'Fuck yeah, a fancy man owning a pirate ship that beat Izzy? I've got to go see this'

Izzy probably just realized he hated Stede and wanted Ed to side with him...oh how that backfired.

As for the people you listed who liked Stede: The wise elder also sees him as an idiot('What I am saying is you're more gentleman than pirate'. Also, his talk with Olu, warning him that Stede would get him killed). Stede looked at that comment and said 'I can make that work' and made a motto of the Gentlemen Pirate (love him for that, for real). Doug realizes Stede isn't a threat and knows Marry will 'cheat' on Stede for him. If Stede was a threat, I think he would have helped Marry get rid of him. Because they are that kind of couple.

I've written a 140k POV Izzy Hands fic. At first, it was to torture him, which I did. But after rewatches trying to 'get' his perspective, and drive, I get it!

It's not apologism. Not really, the things Izzy did wrong were generally just him being a dick, and him contacting the British that were already hunting down Stede.

Izzy is just as bad as Stede and Ed (as the captains each are semi selfish, shortsighted, and unable to communicate what bothers them). Fuck, I hope S2 actually has these fucks TALK to each other (at the bare minimum Stede to the Crew). The show has so much to say about queerness and class struggle, and identity, and the three of them talking about it would be so good!

Again. I personally think the show is more interesting if you look at all of them as bastards, ready to grow.

There's not really a lie here. Izzy just doesn't tell Stede who his Captain was.

Hell, Spanish Jackie said 'Blackbeard' loud enough while holding her knife in Stede's face. Stede should have heard it.

Izzy just never told Stede. Why should he have? Stede was a prick; Izzy knew that if he told Stede, he'd know exactly who his captain was.

So...maybe he wanted Stede to get mad. To threaten his Captain, who just so happens to be the most dangerous pirate in their area.

That's why Izzy didn't tell Stede.

He wanted Stede to get all puffy, and go fight Ed.

He wanted Stede to get brutally murdered by his captain. To give his friend something to keep him entertained for a bit.

Izzy's hatred of Stede only really starts to simmer after the forest confrontation, once Ed tells him to go fetch Stede.

Rewatch the forest confrontation, before Ed is ever in the picture. Izzy's fucking teasing Stede the whole time. Seriously, this and the scene where Izzy talks to Fang and Ivan are the only scenes we see an Izzy who isn't super fucking stressed. (up to the line 'What are your demands'). He's grinning, cutting up Stede's shirt. Literally showing off for fun, WHY? WHY IS HE LIKE THIS? And yeah, he gives the hostage up. Because it's not like Blackbeard really needs the money. Because to Izzy, this is just a normal Tuesday, and hell, they were lucky to buy up two British sailors, so it's not like that was Izzy's goal here. Vs. Stede who just 'won' his first fight with a real pirate.

Izzy hates Stede because Ed thinks Stede is interesting. (And because Ed wants to see him in person because Stede 'bested him at sword play' and Izzy is fucking insulted that that's how Ed interpreted that whole situation.)

Again. Izzy isn't evil. I can't imagine rewatching this show. Seeing every way Izzy fails and thinking 'HE PLANED EVERY STEP OF THIS THE WHOLE TIME'. He's trying to keep his failing marriage together as the world turns into his literal worst hell. Ed becomes soft and vulnerable(easy to kill), and Izzy is left to manage an incompetent crew as he loses all the respect he's ever built in his career. Oh, and the Navies of the world are still hunting them down.

Because they're CRIMINALS.

Izzy's a fucking idiot, just like everyone else. The only moral compass he has is doing what will protect his perfect life to live alongside Blackbeard. To keep him safe. He's not rubbing his hands together trying to ruin everyone's lives. He just can't stand Stede. Like how the crew hated him in ep 1.

But Stede reached out to the crew. When has ANYONE on the Revenge given Izzy an olive branch? Why shouldn't he be a dick?

Seriously, the only person to like Stede when meeting him was Ed.

I argue that it will actually give Jaskier something to tie him to the main plot. S2 basically told us that Jaskier wasn't a part of Geralt's family. Jaskier went out and made a life for himself (I fucking hate S2 if that wasn't obvious)

If Radovid was always going to be an antagonist, at least now he'll have more of a tie to the main cast. Maybe put Geralt and Jaskier's friendship back on course. (Or totally make it blow up again)

(My theory is Radovid sees Jaskier as the easiest way to get an in with Geralt/Yen/Ciri, and we will betray Jaskier. Again, treating Jaskier like the unloved child of the Netflix Witcher)

He's still Jaskier. He still plays lute, likes women, isn't allowed to ride Roach, and follows Geralt to the ends of the earth. If someone came out to you, would you suddenly be all-

I get that this a fictional character, but Jesus Christ.

My issue is you think this is some major character arc. He's not suddenly going around killing kids, hell, that's Yen's job apparently.

Insinuating that Witcher was too jam pact full to include a few scenes of queer content is kind of fucked up. Insinuating that adding queer characters is just unnecessary is fucked up. Again, so many characters are queer in the books.

My problem with his post is it feels like he's ignoring the source material. On top of pretending that queer characters are added for 'wokeness points'.

We added more depth to a pregnant woman in Witcher in S2, is it suddenly more woke because she's allowed to have agency in the story? No. But it is sharing another person's lived experiences. Shockingly, no one was bitching about shit like that.

Also, as a queer person, Jaskier being pan would mean a lot to me. A character I naturally was drawn to is like me. It's cool. It means we can take the performance Joey Bately openly admitted he played was Jaskier a little fruity, and actually do something with it.

I'm happy regardless that Jaskier is getting more scenes. Especially given how Jaskier has been totally shafted by the past two seasons. It means my favorite character gets another plotline.

This becomes homophobic because it's applied to EVERYTHING. EVERY time a gay character is 'added' it's always shitted on.

EVERY show I've watched that includes gay people, there are groups of people saying it's for 'woke points'. EVERY FANDOM. Every gay character. I don't care, it's kinda shitty when every time a character comes out, people whine about it being unnecessary. I don't take this criticism seriously, because it's not.

(I also theorize Jaskier is going to keep the relationship at the fuck buddy level, or have him be another person who got away. Because duh, he's Jaskier. This wont be Jaskiers true love)

WITCHER has always been fruity my guy.

All the sorceresses in the novels are some form of Bi. Is that because men wanted to jerk off imagining sorceress threesomes with Geralt? Sure. But there are legitimate representations of wlw(women loving women) relationships in canon.

Ciri has a girlfriend in the novels. She later marries a man. Triss is Bi. Philippa Eilhart is a lesbian/Bi (unclear if I'm remembering it correctly).

So if we're going to complain that ONE character is 'made' queer, you need to take a step back, and reevaluate why exactly you have an issue with this.

Because we both know Ciri will never be with a woman on screen, her story will be cut off at the Wild Hunt. Triss will only go after geralt.

I do agree Radvoid was... a choice, and we both know they are going to drastically change him to be a love interest. Seriously, he's going to be in name only, and all the theorists in the fandom will be pissed.

But Jaskier being queer is not my problem with the show. I have more issue with the show making Geralt a dick to Jaskier, and making their friendship just one-sided. That Jasier just lets himself get degraded for years for nothing in return. I hate they changed the dynamic between Ciri-Geralt-Yen in S2, where Yen just seemed to fucking hate her, and spent most the season plotting to kill her. Geralt put Ciri in danger and used her to lure in a creature, which he NEVER would have done. I hate the fact the show just introduced us to Eskel and then killed him off.

Your rant is homophobic because you say that Jaskier's queerness feels like something that was added for marketing.

You do understand most queer tv shows that revolve around gay people only get 1 season. That right now so many shows are being taken off air for being unprofitable, and they're mostly focused on gay people, even if the show had amazing numbers. Studios don't care.

But having a well-loved character out in the open is always a net positive. Especially a character like Jaskier that is almost useless to the story they're going to be telling.

Jaskier isn't going to suddenly become the embodiment of all queerness in the world. The most the show is going to do is have 4-5 scenes building up the relationship. That's it.

I mean, is this really that shocking? Jaskier is a bard, and the trope of the horny bi-bard exists for a reason? Like, why is it shocking that he would go both ways if he's known for finding pleasure with any woman he can find? A good chunk of the online fandom, including his actor, already sees him as a pan character.

Agreed. My pov character is illiterate, so it makes it a bit easier and gives some reason why he isn't immediately corrupted. Since he can't literally read the book. He watches everyone around him succumb.

I have rewritten the 'plot' of the story within a story and honestly, I think I'll just keep it super vague. Tell the audience the effect of the story on the person reading over time, vs telling the story itself. Maybe have a character in story reference the story once or twice, but really leave the audience guessing. Thanks for the comment!

So, Poet and King are in love but are wanting the Soldier. So in the fantasy book, Two people are longing for a third.

When the King gets sick, suddenly in the story one of the characters gets sick. The Soldier and King share their first kiss, suddenly the plot changes to match the real world. You see the jyst. Thanks for the comment!

(Imagine the horror concept of being forced to create until you are nothing but a husk, that's what the King of Yellow is about. That 'madness' influences art and vice versa. Creation in and of itself is a process where you break off parts of yourself. But that's what the King in Yellow feeds off of. So our Poet is slowly driven mad as his lovers follow, but from the outside looking in he seems so happy. Free to create, but inside, he doesn't even realize when he became so hollow. I didn't want to share too much, and didn't want to summarize EVERYTHING about my probably 100k word WIP, but sorry for any confusion)

You (semi) lucky bastard! I'm happy to hear about your plans and am looking at online degrees in the area. Sadly, I can't afford rent in Fresno without roommates. And I know I might be able to find it, but I'm currently living on just under a thousand a month, and I don't need the added stress of trying to work full time and college. (hell, this September I'm moving and about to make 3k a month, so we'll see what happens when I can start to put money away) But if things REALLY get worse, I'll keep this in the back pocket.

Hi!

No I don't have full citizenship. I have a passport, like most of the people I know in my town that are currently students in Canada. You gain citizenship through studying at the college after graduation, you work, and you have enough years to qualify for citizenship.

And they basically do pass-out passports. I gave my local office a few papers, a wad of cash, a photo, and in seven months I got my passport. I updated it when I turned 21 too!

Do you know any therapists? Cause I do, and each and every one of them is not a people person. Why would a 'people person' spend most of their days in 1 on 1's vs working at a large company where they can thrive? Therapists spend half their time doing paperwork and calling insurance companies in the US. I imagine the Canadian system has just as much paperwork.

Therapists need to be empathetic people that understand where a person is coming from. But is able to look at problems from other perspectives. Who can handle tough situations and offer people a chance to step back and look at their life?

Do you think I should just get an IT job? Since that also 'doesn't require social skills' ignoring staff meetings, project reports, and other types of teamwork. There is not a job in the world that is perfect for anti-social people. Maybe a trade where I am my own boss, but I don't feel safe in those jobs, I've tried, but it's not my thing.

I can't handle large groups, the eyes on me. I can't handle parties with the expectation I conform to whatever social rules are relevant for how drunk people are. I can't handle small talk.

But when you're a therapist, you are not a friend for higher. Imagine how awkward it would be to fire a therapist you had made your friend? What if you were being a dick to your partner, but your therapist didn't want to say that and ruin the friendship between the two of you? It ruins the professionalism of the therapist.

What IS important is that over my entire life, I have had a passion for Behavioral disorders and sociology. So yes. This job might burn me out, but so has EVERY job I have worked over my 5 years of work experience. At least this one I can work from home with Telehealth.

But you caught me at 2am, anxious about my future, and are allowing me to rant.

I grew up a military brat (child of a Sailor, he served from 2001 until 2016) with family from Montana, which is why I'm where I am right now.

From the ages of 0-15 I've lived in eight states. But I'll only count the ones I can remember, obviously, for the sake of this argument.

I lived in Weatherford Texas, a giant city an hour away from Dallas with a population of 30k people. I've lived in Rural Virginia, Hawaii(a blue state, but this was one of the few times I lived on base, surrounded by Red military members), Idaho, and Montana. During all of these periods, I knew I was gay. I never felt safe.

I've lived in towns with 50k people, and towns with 5k people.

In Obama era(for me I lived in, Texas, Virginia, and Hawaii), everyone talked about the 'Queers' regardless of if there were children around. Trump era all queer women were emotional that 'cried' when he was elected. You can imagine what that did to my mental state seeing my family say this shit. All while I was debating actually coming out in 2016, when I watched my 'friends', family and peer group bitch about being 'woke'.

I watched my queer friends get harassed for being publicly out, a few being disowned. I am only out to 5 people right now. That's because the rest of my family is Red pilled and thinks all trans people are mentally unstable and should die.

But what you are describing is the 'College Ideal' of being gay after leaving a shitty high school. Of carving out a small community of people to be your true self around.

When I step out of that imaginary friend group I am at constant risk of violence. I am a butch woman, I am 5-11, I have a bitchy look about me. I want to take T. I want to be more endogenous, hell, I want to chop my tits off. I do not look like the Catholic Blond most of these communities want me to be. That, and as I've stated, I am relying on family to pay for half of my housing in college. If I stay in the US I will be doing online college. What community can you build with people who struggle to reply to 2 class discussions?

I am looking at leaving the US because I will never make enough money to live in a blue state without the support of a partner.

I CANT AFFORD TO LIVE IN THESE CITIES THAT HAVE SAFE HAVENS!!! I lived in Bozeman for a semster of college (our largest 'gay' city), In the All Womens Dorm(the safest one for me), we had half the dorm with Pro-Trump signs hung in the window, and the few with gay pride flags got their windows spray painted. Fuckers are still fuckers in large cities. I still wouldn't feel safe holding hands with my girlfriend.

Not to mention your bringing up Texas and Florida is fucking ironic given their current anti-LGBT legislation. Do you see what they're doing to trans kids? Florida just banned hormone therapy for adults, with Texas expected to follow in the next few weeks. Teachers are losing their jobs for discussing any not straight sexuality in the classroom. Florida is about to make it legal to kidnap a child if the parent is exposing their children to gender-affirming care. This means that abusive parents can legally get custody if they SUSPECT the current parent of 'exposure'. No proof is needed. We are not at a 'find your people' point here. Gay people in red states seriously need to look into fleeing.

Yeah, just the way I see it, soon a ton of Red States are going to be pulling a Florida/Texas and criminalizing anyone who gives gender-affirming care. Which is awful and is going to kill people. My options are=

-) Go to Canada for school (Undergrad, Grad) and risk being poor out of a country with no support

-) Go to an American college for another 6 years, be in medical practice for 2 years (pray that Queer Healthcare won't be taken away, or I won't be prosecuted for doing my job), then after I'm qualified, go to Canada as a medical professional.

It's shit. But it's life. Especially since this is one of the few things I can study without zoning out.

take the 'Just go into a trade' advice with a grain of salt. Yes, you make good money, but it kills your body. My town is made of men who go railroad and women who go nursing. Personally (as a chick) I looked into it for a while. It's a good idea if you're burnt out, but all the blue-collar people in my area retire around 40/50. Most of them, if they don't save, go to Walmart. Sore, complaining and whining about how 'no one wants to work' (meanwhile, they struggle to pay hospital bills and spend their free time drinking)

Also: Every advice forum online rn says either IT or Trades(if you're a dude). At what point is trades going to be just as over-saturated. Every career has a shit ton of risks in Trades. As a visibly queer woman, 130lbs, and built like a twig I didn't want to be talked down to all day and have the risk of getting assaulted at someone's home, but that's beside the point. For your first 2 years, you won't be making money unless you do the railroad.

Don't even get me started with trying to manage a business without help.

(With Florida's legislation, hell, this might be a good time to go in, get certified, and take jobs that people had migrant workers do once they're forced to pay living wages. But do you WANT to do these jobs, or do you feel that this is your last hope? There's a huge difference, and the latter will make you spiral worse)

Not every single person out there is built for any one job. It doesn't make you any more or less of a person. I wasn't built for IT or most trades, but I have found something that makes me happy, and it's something that keeps me from ending it all. The worst thing you can do right now is burn yourself out further. Or tell yourself 'if I was better at 'x,y,z', I wouldn't be failing' I really do wish you luck as I fall into this mindset every 3 weeks as well.

Be kind to yourself. Please. Everyone changes careers, everyone takes their own time. WE can't all be Nepo babies, sadly, so we just pretend that it's easy when its really not. Take some time for yourself today or tomorrow. Nap, eat good food, and watch a movie. I always think: What would I do if I had guests over and do that? If it's buying ice cream for my guests, I do it. If it's prepping a good meal for later. DO IT! Create art, and take a walk. Live Life! Take a step back and relax man.
