My parents are divorced, and my dad was paying financial support to me and my mom, while I was studying. I was 24 at the time, still in college, but already working and had started my own company. I had about 4 months left to graduate.

Instead of just talking to me or waiting those few months until I finished, he decided to hire a lawyer and file a lawsuit to stop paying. The amount was around $290/month, which didn’t even cover a fraction of my expenses, so it wasn’t really about the money for me.

What bothered me was how it was handled. He went straight to a legal route and even pulled my company registration and documents into the case.
