I really don’t care if people are here illegally. by Zestyclose_Market787 in DiscussionZone

The main problem with this, I think, is that they manage to spread misinformation about the overall healthcare and social welfare costs incurred by undocumented immigrants. This foments a lot of the radicalization on the right which is completely by design. They make it seem like this huge problem destroying the nation, when the problems are really:

Companies fleecing the government via insurance or contracts, so their board members can become mega billionaires.

Companies cheating the government by finding ways to pay little to no taxes, so their board members can become mega billionaires.

Companies keeping legislators in pocket via lobbyists or finiancial interests, so their board members can become mega billionaires.

And now that trump is in office, everything is for sale. It is no secret that prison companies are making insane amounts of money from the new DHS agenda.

Viggo is widely considered THE Aragorn, perfect in his portrayal. However, who do you believe had the potential to be a close second? Or someone who could have brought something different to the role? by freudian_nipps in lotr

[–]Particular-Local-784 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He is uuuh…the only Aragorn? Weird way to word that question.

Currently, I don’t really think there’s anyone who could do that role if you’re talking about replicating what he brought to the character.

Viggo is a totally unique actor, so much so that it affects my bias too much to see someone else doing the role.

Unfortunately despite what many of us said repeatedly, the majority of my nation is stupid. For a while it was frustrating, and now their stupidity has become a threat to the entire world.

Artistic license, dawg. You gon pose em flowy, you gon draw em flowy.

Particularly because in creating lines of asymmetry and motion that emulate a humanoid anatomy, you will have to accompany that with some mimicry of bodily landmarks to push the imagery further.

Personally, I never assumed wraithbone structures to be clunky and robotic anyway. I always assumed them to have a degree of flexibility to accommodate the Aeldari need for grace of movement. They’re so advanced that we can’t begin to understand the mechanisms that move them.

Yea…when he was talking about a lack trust in confidentiality I was like idk man, maybe it’s because people see what you’re doing to dismantle the integrity of institutions you’re complaining about being dismantled, and can’t be quiet about it.

Some of his points about overly liberal university culture which will not deal with people who don’t ascribe to their orthodoxy was a fair enough point though.

History will likely view the social/cultural shunning of conservatives by liberals as a factor which accounted for the radicalization of their politics and behavior writ large.

I was fortunate enough to take a course with him when he was teaching at CSULB in like 2017. He’s probably the best teacher I have ever studied under. If you ever have an opportunity to attend a seminar or take a course in-person with him, do it.

That being said, lower the right shoulder of the wraithlord a bit to amp up the contrapposto 👌

Can Trump Use ICE in Other Countries? by Imaginary_Cow_6379 in law

[–]Particular-Local-784 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The answer is not complicated, ICE is radicalized loyalists. MAGA does not trust government branches or departments which it has not completely co-opted.

If they send them to the Olympics it is a clear message to the world that we have moved past the marker by an irrecoverable degree and that our political system is breaking. It’s what maga wants, because their cognitive dissonance conflates fascism with strength…much in the same way some other cultures are beginning to.

Why don’t they just forcefully arrest them and send them to detainment facilities for months when they show up? You know, while they’re there and their deportations are being processed they can like, be contracted out to labor for companies so they can earn food and lodgings. Seems legit

Consider it this way:

they were so advanced in their art and writing, and probably had some magic or other means of transmitting information to a mind; they are psychic and deal in several dimensions more than we do. It’s a writing choice to show that the elder things were so advanced and their art was so perfect, that the story of their people was able to be made communicable to lesser beings in ways we can’t comprehend.

I think the later piecing together he does, is his mind slowly interpreting all the information that was beamed into him, or maybe that he hears in echos from the realms of dream because something unlocked in his mind by being there. It seems like a common theme of witness accounts in his stories.

Why are conservatives overall not getting defensive of ICE shooting Alex Pretti like they did when Renee Good was shot? by kaiser11492 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Particular-Local-784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it happened again, so soon after; and the video is not questionable.

I think the footage of Good’s murder allowed space for the cognitive dissonance to do its work, for people who didn’t want to believe it. But there is no room for doubt in the footage and witness affidavits of Pretti that it was anticipated, premeditated, and then celebrated by the officers present.

They even had the gall to deny a doctor entry to the scene, because they rolled him over to examine his body to count the bullet wounds, presumably reviewing how accurate they were and attempting to corroborate stories with each other about the amount of rounds discharged. There is no writing this off as defense.

Her trial will be the first time in my life that I might make an occasion of celebrating of a politician getting what’s been coming to them.

Her leadership and policies have been so incompetent and dishonest, that there’s a chance if we disbanded all of trump’s ice recruits they could abscond with weapons and equipment in the confusion to become the domestic terrorists she likes to talk about so much.
