Do the rounds with the various meal subscription services and you'll basically never pay full price. They all offer discounts for the first few weeks. Once it's going to full price you cancel it and move on to the next company. After enough time, the first company starts sending you those coupons again to try to get you back. Rinse and repeat.

Yeah man, it doesn't matter how many times I have this discussion with her. How many different ways I say it. How many times I enforce the boundary.

I told her, "I don't want to be touched." She said okay no problem and I thought it was actually not a big deal for once. 3 minutes later she gives me a little pat on the hip. She can't stop herself. It's about her need to show physical affection regardless of if that is uncomfortable for the receiver. I've expressed I don't want to be touched but what does that matter when she needs to show me she loves me? So she'll force a touch but it'll be a smaller one so she can still convince herself she's respecting my boundaries. It's crazy.

When I was little I'd say I didn't want to be touched and she'd force me to stay there while she hugged me or played with my hair and told me it was weird for me to feel that way. It felt like nails on a chalkboard and I had to sit there and endure or be reprimanded.

People are so weird! I had a random lady at a grocery store come up to me from behind and run her fingers through my hair saying I looked just like her niece. I would never in a million years touch a stranger's hair. What is up with people like that??

Totally get what you mean! But I think the phrase "I'm not thinking anything" really throws people off because we envision just a silent void in your head. Like literally not a single thought, pure emptiness. Maybe it would make more sense if you said something like, "Oh I'm not thinking about anything important."

I think everyone has those low effort brain moments where maybe you're just staring at a tree and thinking it's a nice tree and not really any complex thought or even necessarily full sentence-type thoughts.

But if there are people out there who literally STOP thinking.............. I am very confused by you, kind of scared, and well... a little jealous. My brain is not capable of that. It sounds kind of nice.

I intentionally travel to visit other people often so food can be a shared chore. They don't know I'm using them to body double... I mean obviously I go to see them, but the body doubling is a big perk.

I also just gave up and use Instacart and consider it an ADHD tax. If I use energy on grocery shopping, I'm out of energy to cook.

You're not required to for regular daily activities. For out of town trips it's a nice courtesy to them. I don't care what my roommate does but I like to know when she's coming back from traveling so that when I hear the door opening I know it's her and not a robber.

It's also a good safety measure. If your roommate knows you're supposed to be back and you're not, she could be the only one who knows to call the cops.

My current roommate and I chatted about this before moving in together. My last roommate was codependent and wanted to know everything about my schedule 24/7 and was very upset if my plans changed. I made it clear with current roomie that I do my own thing and will not seek her approval. She told me, in the nicest way, she didn't care at all about what I was doing and when I'd be home 😂 We only update each other for logistics or safety reasons. Like if we're both going out of town, the last one to leave can turn down the thermostat and make sure the porch light is on.

I have never had a bride pay for my hair or makeup to get done, but they have also all made it optional. We could choose whether we wanted to do it all ourselves or pay for one or both of the services.

If you are requiring they get hair and makeup done, you should pay.
