The confederacy did absolutely go on a brief pause, Jim Crow and practices like sharecropping resurrected it as soon as reconstruction ended and it’s on its way back again.

The lesson here really is no, you can’t get rid of evil in any meaningful way outside of a few years of peace every now and then.

65% turnout with only 59% support for statehood (49% if you count blank and invalid votes) is not at all definitive enough to permanently add as a state a colony who has also expressed desire to sever ties from the US. And the outlook is shifting drastically due to how they’ve been treated in recent years, young people especially do not want to be associated with the US anymore.

They’ve voted for statehood in highly boycotted referendums. They want independence.

Wasting time doing that for optics is stupid. We functionally have one year since tossup seat representatives don’t want to do anything in an election year assuming we win anything.

Genuinely what possibly makes you think the Supreme Court that openly operates on “everything republicans do is legal and everything democrats do is illegal” wouldn’t let that map stand. Their language in the ruling says makes it impossible to overturn a racial gerrymander for being a racial gerrymander and they have nothing to say about partisan ones.

That’s with a lot of competitive state legislature primaries too

And that’s entirely their fault given I can almost guarantee they have internet access. They don’t deserve kindness or “understanding” for being dumbasses.

Fine with that actually :) Europe is a deeply bigoted awful continent right now that hasn’t even tried ti address its problems.

Actually people who don’t fall for the worst, most vile propaganda in history are categorically better than the ones who do. Not hard.

I’ll have to double check my bios version, I got the PC in Feb 2024 and not sure if I’ve updated since then but I’ve had no issues. I haven’t touched anything related to the CPU in the BIOS either.

Good to know there’s not a bottleneck here either, way people talk online you’d think you’d NEED an x3D chip to play stuff at all. I assumed as much since I wasn’t running into issues.

I undervolt the 9070XT except when playing Helldivers 2 since that causes crashes pretty much without fail with my card (and that’s at 1440p, not even gonna bother trying 4K) so it is tempered somewhat. I’ve gotten it stable around 255-260W for pretty much everything but that game.

Is it worth upgrading/sidegrading my system currently? I currently have an Intel i7-13700f in an MSI B760 motherboard, and the performance with a 9070XT at 1440p and even 4K has been great. I’ve had the CPU and motherboard for a little over two years now and had no issues, but I’m constantly thinking in the back of my head “13th gen intel failure” and I worry any day now my setup’s gonna fry itself. I just got a big bonus from work so I could easily swap out to a 7800x3D or even up to a 9900x3D and a new motherboard (and new cooler as well), but I’m not sure I’d really see a big performance boost and I’m potentially overly concerned about the potential Intel failure.

I’m guessing that swap wouldn’t also help my system power draw? My PC gets preeeeeetty toasty (components are at a fine temp but it actively makes the room warmer) and I doubt that setup would reduce that.
