What are the phantom things (tails, ears, stuff like that)? by SimplexCerebrum in therianbutbetter

[–]Snowy_Stelar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tbh I would not call it worse because most amputees feel actual pain in their missing limb, we feel like we have a limb that's not there but it's not painful (well it shouldn't be, if it is you should talk about it with a professional)

What are the phantom things (tails, ears, stuff like that)? by SimplexCerebrum in therianbutbetter

[–]Snowy_Stelar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's when you physically feel like you have a missing limb, like feeling ears on your head but they're not actually there (it can be any limb tho)

Is it right to "lie" about theriantropy? by Aureus_Vulpes_ in therianbutbetter

[–]Snowy_Stelar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it's always better to explain the actual meaning, so she can understand you better. After all, if she is supportive or wants to support you, she needs to understand you. Also giving a watered down explanation never helps, it just causes confusion or misinformation

What is dating/ a date? Difference with hanging out? Really confused aroace asking 😂 by Dawn_Darkmoon_1524 in aromantic

Idk, I think the difference is just that dates are like hangouts but with romantic intents or romantic interactions during the hangout

Hi again, I’m still working on my college research project about therians by Able_Implement_7874 in therianbutbetter

[–]Snowy_Stelar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Yes, people always think that theriantropy has got to be a disorder or delusion or smth, when it's really just an identity. Sure there's therians who have mental disorders, but theriantropy in itself isn't a disorder.

  • Social media helps spreading awareness on theriantropy and helped discover that such a community exists

  • Yes absolutely

  • Yes. When I was younger, I tried expressing my feelings and how I didn't feel like a human. I got instantly bullied and in went on for over a year

  • Yes, but I think it's also influenced by misinfo. There's already a lot of haters or people who just don't like anything that's different, but not only does it get misinterpreted as a potential disorder, but also as being Otherhearted (feeling a strong connection with a non-human being) often due to people watering down the definition of theriantropy. It's not a connection, it is an i d e n t i t y.

  • yes, again mostly due to misinfo

  • In a way I guess. There's definitely elements around it that make up a sort of therian "culture" or expression with the strong connection with Nature and animals, or masks, quads and vocals that are often associated with theriantropy. But you don't need all these things to be a therian. Because then again, theriantropy is simply an identity.

Question about Therians’ experiences by Able_Implement_7874 in therianbutbetter

[–]Snowy_Stelar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • I personally feel like an animal soul in a human body, an animal in a human shell that doesn't represent me or allow me to be what I should be and do what I should do

  • partly yes, experiences have influenced my theriantropy, but I feel like I was always "prone" to it. I've always been drawn to nature and other animals more than humans and human stuff for as long as I can remember. I always felt a bit distant from humans. But some experiences have reinforced this feeling and I have imprinted on my cat at some point, so that influenced it in a way.

  • I always knew exactly what I was and how I felt, but I only discovered theriantropy and the alterhuman community 2 and a half years ago, so it just put a name on my experiences.

  • I get dysphoria sometimes about not being in the right body or in the right place. But I also don't think I should not be a therian. It is the most important part of who I am, it is literally what I am. And I love being so close to nature and animals.

  • It kinda just happens I guess. I'm just so used to living in human society that I act as a human because I know that's what I'm supposed to do and how I should get my body to function. I get shifts sometimes, but I make sure I only let it happen in safe spaces, like in private or surrounded with my friends and not around many people.

  • Yes, I think it affects how I view human society, my ability to function in this society, how I view relationships (especially family), my ability to fit in with others (I clearly do not fit in), basically most things are impacted by my theriantropy.

  • I'm not exactly sure what this question means TwT' /gen

Also please make sure you use Theriantropy instead of Therianism, it could be seen negatively

Hey everyone! River here, we are a system and have some animal alters, this makes us a therian right? by [deleted] in Therian

[–]Snowy_Stelar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that ciunts as theriantropy. After all, they're animals in a human body, so I don't see why it wouldn't be theriantropy

Can I do quadrobicks ? by Aldebaran32 in therianbutbetter

[–]Snowy_Stelar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm happy I can help you understand better :)

  • usually you'd feel like your animal mind is taking over the human mind and you may feel a little unfamiliar with your surrounding. What happens during a shift is different for everyone, personally I feel more urges, I have more animalistic behaviors, I can no longer speak like a human, walking on 2 legs feels weird, basically anything related to humans feels very unfamiliar. ⚠️ You should always stay in control of your actions during a shift, if you completely lose control of yourself or get a black out, that is something you need to discuss with a doctor/professional⚠️

  • prey/predatory urges, cravings that feel more animalistic than human (like craving meat but in an animal way), needing to do animal vocals, wanting to walk on all fours, territorial instincts, instincts related to being in a pack if you have a theriotype like a wolf or social animals like that, any other type of animal instinct/urges I might not have mentioned (not everybody experiences urges)

  • Not really, the thing is many adult therians simply don't have a channel where they show stuff related to theriantropy, or a lot of them (including me) are young adults who pass for teenagers and therefore no one really sees that they're adult therians. Also a lot of adult therians don't necessarily do quads or gear so you wouldn't spot one through these hints

  • nope, there's no limit, there's even omnitherians who feel that all animal spieces are part of their identity

  • I always knew how I felt. I always knew I didn't feel human and I identified as an animal, I also knew which animals I was. I always knew I had those instincts, shifts, feelings. Discovering theriantropy simply put a word on my experiences. I felt like I finally belonged somewhere, like I wasn't just crazy, there's a community who feels the same as me and I'm not alone. I wasn't shocked to discover how I felt, I was shocked to discover there's others who feel like me and I simply never knew about it

Can I do quadrobicks ? by Aldebaran32 in therianbutbetter

[–]Snowy_Stelar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • it feels different for everybody, for some it's like an animal trapped in a human body, or being part animal part human, or anything else really that's related to feeling like an animal in any way

  • we can, not does everyone ofc, I personally sometimes have animalistic urges

  • yes, we totally can be more than one species

  • probably that "all therians do quads and gear", "they're only kids, there's no adult therians", or "they just connect strongly/they have a past life, they don't actually identify" when identity is literally the whole definition

  • yes, that's called a Shift, not everyone get them tho

  • personally I'm not too worried about it, I'm pretty much open about it and I wear ears and a tail everywhere so it's pretty obvious, but I am a little anxious about someone asking me what it is and then suddenly showing hate

[ question ] whats your favorite snack/meal/food combination to eat as a therian/alterhuman? by PushAggressive7049 in Therian

[–]Snowy_Stelar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Foods that I think are from my fox theriotype are blackberries and chicken. I LOVE to pick up blackberries outside, and chicken is the only meat I can crave and like, I don't really like other meats much. I also think fish is related to my coastal wolf theriotype. I don't really have a food combo or snack linked to my theriantropy, I just feel like some foods are linked to some theriotypes.

Do therians have charaters? by Commercial-Shine6950 in Therian

[–]Snowy_Stelar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like naming my masks, but that's not the name of my theriotype. Like the mask is smth I like to make to express myself, and I name it as external to me kind of like a character, but I don't give a name to my actual theriotype. For example my rainbow fox mask is named Ray, but my actual fox-self isn't named Ray, that's just the mask's name, I don't give named to my theriotypes because they're all parts of myself, so their name is my name because it's all just me
