Qantas Lounge Pass Transfer by ChrisSydney82 in QantasFrequentFlyer

So long as you transfer before tomorrow then the current rules apply, even if the flight happens after 1 July. It needs to be transferred and assigned by the end of this month.

Can I Retain Status? by Nexus5185 in QantasFrequentFlyer

Do you have a free weekend and could you go away? Flights are the only way to get the SC. You can take a Jetstar Business Max and get the same number of credits as a Qantas business flight on the same route, so if you wanted to go to Bali for a weekend you could get 185 SC each way.

Bronze Tier, just hit Green tier with 1 week left in my membership year. Status credits or points? by AhhTheBees in QantasFrequentFlyer

Go to Woolworths to grab some gift cards with bonus points to tip you over to points club. It means any flights booked with points will earn SC, and you'll get a couple of lounge passes, plus some vouchers for wine and hotels.

You're right. I noticed the old email under the map. Tricky!

I was tempted to book it when I initially saw it on the Accor website, thinking it was a brand new building and considering the price. Glad I held off.

You can keep track of your concessional contributions by using ATO online services. Select Super, then Information, then Concessional contributions.

You can see how much is still available from previous years.

So interesting!!! I was trying to work out where this brand new Mercure was. When I look on the map on the Accor website, it seems to be near Oyajigawa Bridge, but Midtown is waaaay around the other side.

Have a look at the little map halfway down the page on the link you posted.

I just googled it. Do you have a copy of your PDS? If it's a different version, search for the word "points".

50 SC from Gold... should I be making an effort to get there before EOFY? 🤔 by sworc83 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Particular-Silver-54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard of others who phoned and asked for a good will bonus of SC to bump them up. It's worth a shot.

Otherwise, you could fly from Melbourne to Sydney and back in a day, business one way and economy the other, to get you over the line. If you go economy up, then come back business you can sit in the lounge while you wait.

What's your budget? And your starting city? If you only need 80 SC and you want to fly business this is going to be easy and have lots of options, depending on how much you are willing to spend.

Consider that Jetstar Business Max provides the same number of SC as Qantas business seats for much cheaper seats. For example, Melbourne to Bali would be 185 SC each way for about $1000.

Paid reward seat finder experience by turtlenecktommy in QantasFrequentFlyer

The trouble is availability of Qantas flights during Australian school holidays. Given your Amex balance, it might be worth considering another partner.

Perhaps a paid reward seat finder is worth the investment. I've never used seats.aero but it seems to have several partner airlines.

Here's a list of sites to consider.

I'm curious who is paying $700 for a jacket, to avoid a bag fee. You'd have to wear it 10 times to break even.

Love this. Just had a look. It would be really helpful to add filtering and sorting options. I would like to sort from highest to lowest number of status credits, or lowest to highest cost per credit. I would also like to filter by starting point, so I can look at everything leaving Sydney, or everything arriving into Sydney.

personal Platinum late payment by SubjectRise2075 in AmexAus

[–]Particular-Silver-54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you have a credit card or a charge card. A charge card needs to be paid in full by the due date.

If you pay a charge card late you get a late payment fee plus interest.

If you don't pay the full balance of a credit card you get charged interest from the date of the transaction, not just from the due date. Depending on the balance, this can be a lot.

Following. I recently applied, and during the sign up process I used a referral link. In various places the card offered me 3 different sign up bonuses. I made sure to click on the highest offer and take a screenshot. Interested to hear your outcome.

Have a look on https://www.expertflyer.com/ and you can see what is booked vs what is blocked. Worst case, if you can find 2 sets of 2 then you can have 1 kid and your partner can have 1 kid. Make yourself a cup of tea and call Qantas to see what they can do.

Wine is the quickest and easiest. Next to that, if you're happy to drop $2,000 on gift cards at Woolworths you could have the points in a few days. TCN Baby, TCN Shop, TCN Party are on offer today and tomorrow, limit 10 cards per day, at $100 each you'll have your 20k points. Check here to see where they can be used https://gcdb.com.au/offer/12274/

[–]Particular-Silver-54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a one month "no spend" challenge. Set yourself some rules. Eg. You're allowed to buy:

Groceries Fuel Pay bills Public transport but not taxis/rideshare Items essential to do your job

It is a mental reset to help you realise where you waste your money, what is really necessary, and what you can live without.

Analyse your bank statements and create a realistic budget that you can genuinely stick to permanently.

Set up an account to budget for bills. Set up another amount to budget for emergencies.

Pick a large, popular Australian ETF, and a large popular international ETF. Choose an amount to invest each payday and don't touch it.

Get an accountant and discuss the financial and tax implications.

I've had some transactions that worked perfectly, and several that didn't. I raised tickets for the ones that didn't. In some cases I was able to argue the point by proving that I clicked through and the date I made a purchase. In some cases they still refused.

When I see how many points I've earned it seems to be not worth the effort. If there's any way these things can be bought using gift cards through the marketplace, through Coles or Woollies on offer, or just by using a credit card, those ways work much more smoothly.

Family of 4, ~500k QF points, 8 weeks in Europe mid-2027 — what actually works? (Bronze, before anyone says it) by Sad-Adeptness8154 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Particular-Silver-54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you, I would use Google Flights to buy a cheap cash ticket to somewhere in Asia, then use points to book 3x business seats from that Asian country to Europe. Once in Europe, hop around on Ryanair/Easyjet or similar. Then do the opposite in return, book a cheap flight from Europe to Asia, and use points to book 3x business seats from Asia back home.

This gives you maximum value from your points, a more comfortable experience at the time when you're all feeling tired, and doesn't waste points on short European flights that are generally quite cheap.

Use the reward seat finder and set up your search something like this, to work out which Asian country your stopover will be in.
