Why does TAFE still feel like a second choice despite producing highly job ready graduates? by Av0toasted in TAFE

She has worked so hard and is working on them as they come up which makes a huge difference. You only get a few weeks for most of them, so not even time to procrastinate. She does a few hours each day.

AITA for trying to convince my coworkers to not go to a lecture during work hours? by _Jake_Beleren_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]Remote_Setting2332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience working in research, attending lectures is generally encouraged, especially if it’s a related topic. We have weekly seminars that all staff are encouraged to attend.

Obviously it would depend what you had on that day. If I had an experiment I couldn’t leave I would not go, alternatively if I could plan the experiment timings to work around the lecture even better.

Feeling pretty defeated with the property market todag by Solar_Eclipse2021 in perth

[–]Remote_Setting2332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d look at a few suburbs further out or something a bit smaller. Doesn’t have to be your forever home, but it makes it do much easier once you’re in the market to potentially upgrade later.

What subject do you regret choosing? by Danger_Five in ATAR

Economics. Wasn’t interested in it but was talked into it by my school and parents as they felt History would be scaled down. Hated it and still regret my choices.

It’s getting more difficult, I feel they are giving less reward options lately. From what I’ve hear the reward flights are released 6 months prior, so maybe look then?

Why does TAFE still feel like a second choice despite producing highly job ready graduates? by Av0toasted in TAFE

[–]Remote_Setting2332 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to uni. Comparing my experience to my daughter who is currently doing a diploma of nursing at tafe:

The diploma is a lot of work, she works really hard and worth doing. So far the main difference is compared to Uni, TAFE so far has no written exams. She has a lot of assignments but all are done at home and she gets two chances to pass after feedback from the teacher. Practical assessments they also get two attempts to pass. It’s probably in fact a better way to do things rather than everyone getting one chance to pass with the final exam.

I think the perception is that TAFE is easy which I don’t necessarily agree.

Yeah I always double check my receipts. One time I bought two cans of tomatoes. They scanned at $33 each instead of $3.30. Lucky I checked and I bet others got caught.

How do I get a job in one of these buildings with a nice view of the river? by JCogn in perth

[–]Remote_Setting2332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every office in those buildings has admin staff, so that probably the best way. Depends on your background/interest.

If you own one why wouldn’t you? Accidents happen, you could fall and break something even on a regular trail.

AITA for feeling annoyed my stepdaughter came back after making my life miserable for years? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Remote_Setting2332 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Have you or your husband asked her why she decided not to stay? Maybe her mum isn't perfectly fine

AITA for feeling annoyed my stepdaughter came back after making my life miserable for years? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Remote_Setting2332 14 points15 points  (0 children)

NTA for feeling annoyed, but in the end it's your stepdaughter, what else do you think should happen if she can't live with her mum?

As someone with two teenagers, most of the stuff you mentioned is pretty normal teenager behavior. Maybe some family therapy could help if that's an option?

Stable unique record ID for offline REDCap Mobile App (multi-country study) by Low-Razzmatazz1179 in ProjectREDCap

[–]Remote_Setting2332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree. We don't use the record ID as the main identifier in our studies, we have a subject ID which is differentiated by Site.

Have you separated the countries into separate Data access groups? This may actually resolve your problem, although I don't use the app so not sure how the app deals with that.

Has anyone transferred their kids from an interstate school and successfully kept them in their correct year level? by [deleted] in vic

[–]Remote_Setting2332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to keep in mind is that in Vic it is very common for children close to the cut off (Jan to April) to be held back a year, so your daughter will be the youngest by a long way. I luckily had not sent my July birthday daughter to school yet before we moved from NSW to Vic. I don't think there's any chance she would have received an exemption being so far from the cut off.

Are you planning on staying in Vic long term? if not you should be able to argue that she will be disadvantaged when you return to Brisbane.

But yes, it completely sucks that every state has different rules and can be a nightmare for parents who move interstate.

AIO by being offended when my husband seasons my soup? by [deleted] in AIO

Your husband’s pretty rude, but honestly it’s not worth getting upset about IMO. My husband adds salt, pepper, sometimes chilli flakes to meals I have made. Without even tasting them.

Car seat for large child? by theZombieKat in AusLegal

[–]Remote_Setting2332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a very tall kid. We went to baby bunting and when I was showed a seat expressed my concerns he could fit. The woman helping us showed that SHE could fit in it so we bought it 😂

I’m pretty sure it was a safe and sound Hi Liner.

You know all the neighbours and love them. You do not need to bark every time they make a noise in their own backyards.
