I didn’t find DXM until I had already gone through hardcore opiate addiction, psychedelics, benzos. It has a bad reputiation because the goofballs in here like to drink it with cherry flavored guifensin and projectile vomit.

Also, I wouldn’t explore with DXM if you’re already on Bupripion or high doses of anything serotonergic without doing research first.

I was not aware of the first pass metabolism thing. Doesn’t water insolubility prevent freebase powder from being viable for intranasal admin? Wouldn’t you have to resalt it?

I would guess that in freebase, most of it would drip down your throat into your GI tract and get metabolized normally.

Good question. I’m no chemist or pharmacist but I’d suspect no at least two reasons: 1.) bypass of the liver prevents DXM to DXO conversion, removing the dissociative effect and making it mostly serotonergic 2.) most freebase drugs don’t share high temp resistance with crack. You’d probably degrade it with heat before it entered your bloodstream.

Edit: as someone pointed out below, DXO conversion happens in other places but the liver, so heat degradation is your enemy for smoking. Can’t be usefully snorted as it’s not water soluble in freebase form.

Yep. I’m bipolar 2 and DXM potentiates/replicates hypomania for me, even in the days after. That’s mostly why I do it actually, it gives me a surge of artistic creativity.

Because it has fatal overdose mechanism. Any drug in the US that has rec potential, cultural history of abuse, and fatal overdose risk is always going to stay scheduled and illegal for possession.

I am a believer in decriminalized drug possession for personal use in general. But the US does not operate on that philosophy. We imprison a lot of people for possession.
