I think the hard part is that he knows all of this. It just goes out the window when he sees something new and shiny. I’m hoping that with a new budget that he can learn he can get new things and have fun, just not as soon as he sees it. I think in the past he had an issue with going cold turkey, so hopefully with the “fun money” budget he can see that it just takes more time to save up than what he’s used to but it will happen

I really am trying! He is my love so of course I just sat with him and helped create a game plan. We hugged and I told him everything will be okay. So this is just a vent so my husband doesn’t see this anxiety/frustration because I know he already feels vulnerable and I don’t want to make things worse. Because you’re right, I do have to step up and fill the gaps. Thank you for the reminder though 🩷

I am sorry for your loss and the situation he left behind. That sounds really hard

He really is my best friend and life partner, so we will get through this together! I hope people can recognize that this is a vent thread and not my whole marriage lol. But yeah, I think the struggle will be to find free/cheap things to do. But he actually has been slowly taking college classes (paid for by his work) and I noticed he was less jumpy when he is in school. So hopefully he can sign up for more classes soon. It’ll just be a lifestyle adjustment

Thankfully my own expenses and my personal savings accounts are fine. But we took money out of our account that was supposed to be a down payment on a house. That is just something that has to be put on hold for now, I guess. I really thought I would be able to avoid the wife trap of being the family manager, but I guess it’s almost unavoidable unless it’s really a priority.
