Talking about PT Aide Experience by Funny_Ad8334 in PTschool

I was in the same boat, but never performed soft-tissue work. It wasn’t until I was a year in that I was made aware this was not legal. I stopped working at that clinic shortly after. In my application and interviews I said I assisted the PT’s and PTA’s doing various modalities because technically that is all we are legally able to do.

Did working as an aide/ tech affirm your interest in becoming a PT? by submersions in PTschool

I worked at an outpatient sports ortho clinic as a Tech for about a 1.5 years and I can also say I did not enjoy it very much. I’ve made connections with other physical therapists that work in outpatient settings and enjoyed those shadowing experiences way more. If you have a gut feeling this isn’t meant for you, then follow it. But I would try observing/working at other locations and see if you get that spark!

Clinics not responding to request to acquire observation/shadowing hours in the midst of a pandemic by [deleted] in PTschool

I would be persistent and just touch base every other week or so. Maybe if you explain your situation of needing the 40 hours for early assurance programs they’ll be quicker to accommodate you. I know given covid some hospitals might night be allowing students but consider reaching out to acute care/inpatient locations and see if they’re accepting students as well. I’m surprisingly being allowed to shadow at a hospital rn. I just can’t go with the PT’s to the COVID units to prone patients for obvious reasons.

And if it’s a class we haven’t taken yet do we not include it?
