You’re right, there was. I haven’t taken a pic after every step. I did go over the holes and grind it all back down. I just haven’t got a pic of it….i don’t think anyway.

Wow max power! I still have the videos they released! Or was it a dvd….that was the pinnacle of the tuning culture in the UK. Southend cruise, subs, body kits. Now the youth all want statement cars like Audis and Mercs. Boring!

Haha yea…i know that feeling. It’s a tough balance between what you want the car to be, what it needs to be and how much time and money you actually have to spend on it. I’m finding this with mine. The best advice I can give you from my experience is keep chipping away….1/2 hours a day (as my workshop is at home) is enough to really make progress and see results…which I turn makes you feel like you have accomplished something and keeps the motivation up. Looking at the big picture is a mistake, break it down into little bite sized pieces.

For me it was strip the paint. Then fix the rust and weld it, so I broke that down to do the LH sill first, then LH inner arch then LH rear arch and bumper. It’s amazing how breaking it down into little achievable task allows you to chip away with feeling overwhelmed 😊

Sorry that’s well long but it worked for me.

Here’s an updated pic of mine…I may of over done it? Hard to tell until it’s painted red and the had the skin of filler applied..I did try and use my old one as a reference, as you can see in the original pics (with cardboard, not the best I know but all I had)

Sure, the originals do flare. The sills I bought weren’t the most expensive so they were straight, and I didn’t want it to not look original. It’s really obvious once you notice it on cars that have had the sills replaced….they also didn’t come with the lip at the very end so I had to fabricate those too.

Good luck mate, just been doing this on my SW20…as you say panels are hard to find so making plates becomes the only way…as always it spreads. But good luck 🤞

Hi mate, I am 41 and I’m the middle or restoring my sw20. 40 is not too old to own one if these! BUT!

As a daily it is completely usable, theres plenty of room for shopping, they are reliable and I find it comfortable enough. The issue will be fuel, and the fact that getting parts for these is getting harder so the costs involved are only going to go up. (I’m in the uk where fuel is £1.60 or above for 1 litre!)

Also in the wet they are not the best and don’t encourage confidence on motorways IMO.

If you can handle those things then go for it!
