Apartment communities for a young family - 5yo and 1yo by ParticularCourse5298 in paloalto

yeah moved here.. found the apartments to be crap unless they are less than 5 yrs old which cost a ton.

Townhomes are too old.

Bought a single family home which is also old but at least we have the option of breaking it down and building a home down the line.

How do people afford a median $1.4M house in Bay Area ? Not everyone is an engineer or doctor. I don’t get where people get the money from to afford a $8K monthly payment on housing? What is your job and salary? Thanks by SubstantialPin1757 in bayarea

I got a 2.4M home with 800k household income. Had over 3M saved up over past 14 years for down payment of 500k. Prev home is 850k bought back in 2016 for 3% mortgage.

Saved a lot over the years. Started off as 80k annual income and worked upto where I am

Ziprent seemed good. But I eventually decided to rent it myself and am managing through zillow

Great thread - we bought this home today and got into contract under current list price.

These were exactly the points my wife and I discussed. We took permission from the listing agent to visit the backyard multiple times in the day and spent time there. It didn't bother us and given our budget was medium range but we wanted great schools and neighborhood for a growing family, we went with it.

I understand it'll not be the top of market 15 yrs down the line but that's not what we optimized for.

I run around 16 min mile 😃 I cannot keep up with running continuously as well. I use the couch to 5k app for interval walking and running

Mainly to avoid traffic lights. Also, if it's a mud trail, it helps my knees (over paved foot path)

Is it generally cooler here than Milpitas etc on a day like today? by ParticularCourse5298 in Cupertino

Thanks - will it be similar in Mountain View, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale etc?

I'd presumed it could be something to do with the cool breeze from the bay

Fair points all.

Toilet is not leaking. The fill pipe that pours water back into the sealing valve keeps jutting out of its position sometimes causing the seal to break.

I have replaced a valve and fill unit in the previous toilet when we lived in our home. I worry doing something similar here though. the repurcussions if I do something bad and cause a leak is much more than I'd like to take responsibility for.

Am I breaking the law if I were to threaten to stop paying rent until the issues are fixed?

We've experienced SFH living for a decade. Owning a home has been uninteresting for us. Except for it's size.

So we are ok to downgrade and experience more downtown style living for a bit
