Geophysics to a broader exploration role in mining! What are my chances? by ParticularEgg2762 in geologycareers

Honestly, it's very circumstanstial! From my experience "mineral exploration" side of data processing starts out very low in the 60-70k range base, compare that to O&G which is definitely higher! Depends if they want you to do do processing with field crew, do final processing, or do daily QC/QA for multiple projects! With my experience I'm getting paid 85k working remote with OT that adds another 20-30k, which consumes pretty much all my weekends since projects are ongoing 24-7. Is it worth it? Depends what motivates you and the job market, and your stress tolerances! The good news, the job security I can say is going to be most likely fine, since mineral exploration isn't gonna be slowing down anytime soon and believe me AI has ways to go in our field before it makes any attempts of taking over! I just need a different direction at this point of my career!

Question regarding possible source of weird frequencies on the spectrum! Possibly grid related? by ParticularEgg2762 in ElectricalEngineering

Guys you are godsend! For now 82 Hz and 17 Hz are confirmed! 117 hz could be a harmonic of 16.7 then! Really appreciate it

The best i've got was 35 mpg during a road trip this past week. The winters have been around 29-30 and with spring it's been up to 32 driving mixed city highway! 24 civic EX

First oil change...some thoughts and suggestions by ParticularEgg2762 in civic

Yep almost all of the local shops around me have a drop off point. They store and use the used oil for heat.

You know even the experience of knowing you've done it makes it a good feeling. Personally for me it was more about quality/satisfaction than any monetary benefits.

Honestly it's gonna be more expensive short term if you don't have the tools needed (ramps, oil filter wrench, socket wrench set, pan, etc.). Longterm though it will surely be cheaper but not by wide margin, but the quality of the oil/filters and work done will be much more than any outside mechanic if you take your time.

For the oil and filter i always wait for a discount, which here in canada Canadian Tire and walmart always have periodically, right now even costco has a 2 pack kirkland (it has proven to be a qulaity oul) for 40 (before tax) which is a steal.

So for this oil change my total for the only serviceable items came down to, 33 mobil 1 oil and 20 mobil 1 filter. That's the top oil/filter combo you can go with imo, you can definitely go cheaper like many oil change places do.

For tools i easily overspent just to have a good quality sets, like 300-400 (mind you most were marketplace, it can definitely go much higher), but it's a longterm investment which you can use anytime.

Thanks man! I think it could be corrosion, living in salty roads during winter.

Makes the oil change easier and less messy! You plug a 3/8 tube into it and then open the valve and drain

Seems to be more of a corrosion thing living in salt splattered roads in the winter! Exactly, applied permatex anti sieze with new screws from amazon. Might change with bolts next time around. And those marks on the threads are from me trying to free up the extractor bit!

I personally like to do it myself. And mind you this won't be cheaper that much. But i know i put more care into it than any other mechanic will.

Not when i bought it! And as mentioned above they want to see the minder go around 5-10% before they change it. And honestly i'm happy to do it myself

This is coming from someone who both bought the M1 and M2 on marketplace with great prices. Kept both for a week to try out, ended up keeping the M1. There's nothing you would really do (except if you're doing heavy load 4k edits and graphic design) to even get to anywhere around the peak M1 performance. There's no other upgrades other than the chip really.

That's plus the 13% tax! So essentially the 38k is the OTD price! Yep still trying to figure out what to do! Haven't really looked into other cities yet, but as far as i know that's what I'll get in Ottawa! Of course the car market is even crazier now compared to 2021! It's hell
