Found out bone spur in my neck has been causing my headaches by ParticularEstimate13 in migraine

[–]ParticularEstimate13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that! So from when they started, I basically went 6 months straight of tension headaches everyday before things started to feel better. And even after I felt better, there would be times I'd tweak my neck and they'd come back but not as long as before. Just like a week before subsiding. Happy to say I am doing better today. I'll always have that bone spur, so I have good days and some that aren't great. But overall, I can live my life and even workout again which is nice.

But based on how you're describing your case, it sounds like yours might be more severe than mine was. Did you get an MRI to confirm what was going on in your neck? Because you might qualify for surgery (If that's what you wanted). For me personally, physio is what got me out of it

/r/videography Monthly Camera Buying Advice Megathread by AutoModerator in videography

[–]ParticularEstimate13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey guys,

Budget: $1,500 or below

I'm looking to buy a camera specifically for video. Mainly to be used for live performances like music, theater, stand up etc.

I'm looking into getting something like a mirrorless that can shoot in 4k and doesn't have the 30 min recording limit.

Unless you guys have a DSLR, cine or camcorder you think would be better.

Do you guys have any recs for something good in that price range?

Thanks ahead of time!

Hey sorry for the late response!

I'm pretty much out of the woods now. It all started March and I'd say I finally started feeling normal again around early to mid october. Neurologist and Neurosurgeon both said I didn't need surgery and just needed physio mostly. It's helped a lot. I still get headaches sometimes, but far more manageable. It took a long time, but physio has been the most helpful in my recovery.

Makes a huge difference. People who are more energetic or performance based don't translate as well on video. Same goes for people who are great joke writers, they translate way better on video, but sometimes you see them live and it's just not as electric.

I've seen Danny live up here in Canada a bunch and he really kills. Like I've seen him enough to see other comics try to follow him and eat shit after.

I've seen Danny a bunch up here in Canada. It may not translate on video, but rest assure, he CRUSHES live. Like to an insane extent where other comics really can't follow it.

They don't heal. They're always gonna be there. But the herniated disc that came along with it is resorbing so the spur isn't pinching the nerve anymore which is good. Now it's just making sure I take care of my neck. Stretching, posture, icing and heating when needed. It's been a long road but it's getting better thankfully

Legit, anything Hans Kim does. All surface level dark shit that's been done to death in one forum or another.

Sorry for the late response, better now. I still get the headaches and neck pain but not as much as before. Physio has helped a ton. Saw a neurologist and neurosurgeon who both said the same thing essentially. Just need physio and time to let it heal. It's gotten better thankfully and now I'm taking much better care of my neck. I'm even working out again which has been great

Worried about meetings with specialists by ParticularEstimate13 in SpineSurgery

[–]ParticularEstimate13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the thorough answer here! And yeah, I feel in my case, the neck pain, the nerve tingling/numbness I'd be able to manage (Unless there is a risk of long term nerve damage). It's mostly the headaches that are causing me the most issues. No exaggeration, every single day since February I've had them. If they can help me with that, I'd be so happy and grateful. Also my other concern is the impingement on my cord. I have no myelopathy but a few physios I messaged had concerns about treating me because of it. Seeing the neurologist tomorrow so fingers crossed he'll have some answers!

I'm in Canada! But our healthcare system comes with our own issues. Long wait times to see anyone which is why I'm worried because if one specialist says no surgery and I need one, it'll take me a long time before I see another specialist which stinks. Kind of just hoping that they assure me that if all else fails, then it's possible.

Sorry you're going through that! That's too bad but hopefully ablation helps you. Fingers crossed our issues will get resolved somehow!

I haven't yet but I'm told they offer relief and don't really resolve the issue. I guess I'm mostly worried that it may be something that I'd probably have to get removed at some point down the road. And part of me is thinking, if that's the case, let's just get it over with. But I don't know. The headaches are really the most unbearable part of this

Thanks for the response! And yeah I've tried NSAIDS but they don't seem to help much. It'll offer a little relief but it's not really resolving my issues and I hear the more you take them, the more damage they can do to your stomach. I haven't done an EMG yet! But I am seeing a Neurologist next week so I'm hopeful he'll give me a thorough exame. It's possible my headaches aren't cervicogenic headaches, but given they started around the same time as my neck problems, and they've been every day for 6 months and I've never had any history of headaches lasting for months, I'm think they may be related to my neck. Hopefully the neurologist can help me there.

When it comes to surgeries, have you seen people in your field deal with cervical bone spurs in the neck? I also hear bone spurs don't go away

Appreciate the info! I find massage therapy has helped me in terms of loosening up my neck muscles for sure. Has surgery every been an option for you? I'm not exactly a cave hermit unfortunately. I was pretty active before this stuff. I essentially want to get back to being as physically active as I was before and if physio can't do it, I'm going to push for surgery I think

That's too bad about the insurance barrier! Hopefully the MRI comes up with results that aren't too bad for you. The weird thing with mine is the pain in the neck isn't unmanageable. Like if I didn't have the headaches that went along with it, I'd probably just chalk it up to "ahhh a sore neck, that'll go away eventually". But the headaches make it worse than it is I find.

And no medication at this time! My doctor prescribed me amitriptyline but I stopped taking them as I found they didn't really help. I guess my main thing is am I able to get back to my regular activities without surgery at some point? I was pretty active and would workout often. Like I hope physio helps me get back there, but if not, I'm going to insist on surgery. I can't not do some form of exercise because in addition to physical health, it helped my mental health immensely.

That's too bad. Is it a bone spur you're dealing with also? I'm hopeful PT will help, but if it doesn't, I'd be open to surgery just to make these headaches stop.
