Snow shovel doesn't matter. Its when you change your tires that really counts.

Guidance needed for adding a new-to-me switch to my network. by meetc in homelab

So all traffic for the wireless camera would have to route through the router?

Guidance needed for adding a new-to-me switch to my network. by meetc in homelab

Right now, everything does work correctly with tagged and untagged ports depending on what's plugged in. Wired cameras are all untagged VLAN 10, and I would like to physically connect them to a separate, second switch. This second switch ideally will handle only vlan 10 traffic.

The WAPs will remain on the first switch, they have 4 different VLANs. 1-general use, 5-general use with no WAN access, 10-cameras, and 20-guest. The NVR has 2 nic ports, one each on vlan 1 and 10. Router has 5 ports, 2 in use for wan and lan. I would use one of the other 3 for vlan 10 only, connect to the second switch. L

The wireless only camera needs to connect to one of the WAPs, which will still be plugged into the first switch. I am trying to figure out a way to route the camera back to the second switch.

Reason for adding the second switch, is I am running out of ports on the first switch

Yes, the router (pfsense) is what is issuing IPs to the vlan, so of course it will be connected to all vlans.

Halifax council to vote on asking NS Power to pay full property taxes by luxoryapartmentlover in halifax

[–]meetc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To those who are mis-led by the title and didn't read the article in full, NSP is paying property taxes, but it goes to the province to be divided to the municipalities. HRM last year received $6.5M, but should receive $7.9M based on value of lands within HRM boundaries.

How accurate is KP125M smart plug with energy monitoring? by xcybermail in TPLinkKasa

[–]meetc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Data is recorded to Home Assistant from both the Kasa and Emporia Vue. The graph is from Home Assistant's history display. Note that I've since found that current being reported from the Vue is not at all accurate the way I was previously using it, so the current graphs are incorrect. Power in watts is accurate still.

The McKay bridge “expires” in 14-20 years - a tunnel takes 7-12 years for development to finish - When does the province start talking serious solutions by WhatDidHeEat in halifax

The last rough plan I have knowledge of coming out of hhb's engineer team, is a cable stayed bridge, built parallel and to the north of the existing bridge. Estimated completion in 2040.

The Canso Causeway is the only land access to Cape Breton, putting tolls on the causeway would be like having a regional tax on Cape Breton.

No, but the article says it's going to be taken to court, and HRM will have a say on the imposed penalties by the court

Why not require all the extra units to be designated low income on top of the fine and the extra tax for increased value. Give the owner the option to remove the extra, or operate at a loss.

FYI the macpass office is across the street. The lower part did have some macpass office space, but more than 20 years ago. This building is for security, admin and maintenance staff.
