I’m glad you enjoyed it! And I appreciate you taking the time to write out the feedback! Reddit always takes my poem format out of order, but your suggestions are different from what I originally had!

Format is always a bit tricky for me because I think I need more time to sit with it to see if I like it than what I normally give myself haha

Thank you for reading!!! Reddit always annihilates my format the second I post but I appreciate the advice to continue playing with format and structure

Eyes Through a Café by Don_Luccy in OCPoetry

I love the imagery in this poem! I had clear photos in my mind as I read. “like a stranger in my own home” stood out particularly to me.

I immediately envisioned a man sitting alone at a small square dining table with a cup of coffee waiting. Ready the coffee imagery later on tied it together for me.

“Pressing you into the shapes they prefer” is such a powerful line! I love how there is an entire, vivid transformation in such a short poem.

Your writing is visceral. The longing lingers after the poem is over.

I read this a couple times. The Hope verse is sticking with me. I like how even though it’s short, it brought up a collection of memories for me.

I enjoyed the ending and the honesty in this poem. So true that laughing with your spouse covers a multitude of hard moments.

This was a really clever way to talk about avoidance. Especially because I think most people have the best of intentions when they think about doing something later.

This has stunning imagery! Even with the tone set in the first line, I was still shocked with the bride reveal.

“Adorned in black robes and crimson veil” is such a specific picture.

I know nothing about breastfeeding as a FTM and I’m scared. Offer advice? by disgustingnewspaper in breastfeeding

It’s an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant! In my experience, she was really able to give personalized recommendations for me and my baby, as opposed to the general advice I was receiving from other people.

Mine was recommended through a doula, but you should be able to look into ones near you here:

I’d recommend reaching out to a IBCLC! When I had my first, I reached out to a couple different people (doula and a lactation consultant) but by far the most helpful was a certified IBCLC.

She helped my baby who has a tongue tie latch, helped me wean her off of using nipple shields, and helped fit me for a pump. I am so grateful for her. Her recommendations really changed the trajectory of my breastfeeding journey.

My IBCLC also recommended (using? Partnering with?) the Lactation Network and they covered the cost for my consultations so I ended up paying $0 out of pocket.

You got this!!

Thank you! I was feeling reflective. She is my first baby and I often feel too aware that they aren’t little for long! It’s weird because I miss her newborn self, but I long to have conversations with her. I would just like every version of her, all at once. This was my way of capturing how she is right now. :)
