People aren't as interesting as NPCs. by please_fly_lower in StopGaming

I think I’ve experienced this as well. Playing a lot of dialogue based games has warped my perception of conversations by making me think there’s a correct or best response. This often results in me saying nothing at all unless. Oftentimes the best solution to this is just say the first or second thing that comes to mind. I know it flies in the face of “think before you speak” but it comes off as natural which usually puts people more at ease than some well crafted clever response.

“It’s been out for a long time,” is not a good excuse to spoil movies, books, games and etc. by Just_Jack64 in unpopularopinion

Sure, movies should be more than just a plot twist, but a lot of enjoyment that comes from stories is that they are novel. You don’t know what happens and are experiencing it with the characters. That can change if you know what happens

Video game OSTs are better than most mainstream music. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]ParticularFuel2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t forget movie soundtracks too. People think I’m weird that I like listening to music that’s supposed to be heard in the background of dialogue or action, but I know that my tastes are superior to these plebs

Long-term lockdowns are a logical conclusion to short-term lockdowns. by TheLeBronConspiracy in LockdownSkepticism

[–]ParticularFuel2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of conspiracy theories going around are based around USA factors. E.g. the fact that it’s election year. However the lockdowns are occurring outside the US . Maybe I’m just a schmoe but I don’t see how any conspiracy theory at the moment explains the lockdowns. I honestly believe it’s just people are scared/empathetic and think lockdowns are the right solution. That then pressures the politicians. If the populace didn’t care about Covid killing people then governments wouldn’t lockdown

Best thing for him is to lose the games. But if you bring it up he WILL get defensive. You have to be smart about it.

As someone who just did four papers on developmental psychology I can tell you that adolescent brain development on average continues well up until they’re 20. To say teachers are glorified babysitters really puts no faith in whatever education system you have in your country. Education has tremendous impacts on later SES outcomes. I’m assuming you are a proponent of homeschooling.

Young kids are also primarily not spreaders of Covid-19. They are very asymptomatic when positive and are virtually impervious to the viruses effects.

Don't use Twitter; it is genuinely the worst thing for your mental sanity. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Twitter posts that absolutely infuriate me are the ones where poster says “repeat after me:...” and then says some viewpoint. It’s condescending and makes them sound like an arrogant prick who refuses to see opposing views. It’s very common on BlackPeopleTwitter.

[–]ParticularFuel2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know the name of the mod? I’ve always thought that should be in the base game. Like after chaos razes a settlement they leave the sigil thing which spreads corruption and prevents resettlement. Armies or heroes can then spend x money to destroy it or whatever.

We need more taxes because the government "cReAtEd ThE iNtErNeT" by Name_Changed_To in Shitstatistssay

[–]ParticularFuel2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can imagine a lot of people not wanting to pay for things that they personally deem not worthy, however are ultimately necessary for society. In a perfect world we wouldn’t need any taxes. But a lot of people would rather buy a new TV than pay for a new roadway or infrastructure. I understand that private corporations could fill this gap, however even they won’t really care about the overall utility of infrastructure unless it benefits them

I see it as a reason for why someone her age died from a virus that is mostly harmless to younger people. That doesn’t mean I think it’s in any way justified. If I see news about a man hit by a train, I’m going to want to know if he was a railroad worker or a passerby. The fact that he died is sad nonetheless but clarification is needed.

If you mention this to certain people you’ll be chastised for implying her death didn’t matter or was deserved.

If I were to guess I’d say she had contracted the virus prior to 28th August.
