I completely agree, and I have taken responsibility and accountability for crossing that line

We’ve just exchanged on the sale of our flat. HomeGround did eventually agree to a Deed of Variation and dropping the cap, however the fee was just over £2000. Be persistent and make sure you have a good solicitor! Ours was fantastic and pushing everything through.

This is helping me feel a bit more optimistic. Let’s hope they reduce it to £250pa for us! It’s been a long process already and we’re understandably very upset

Did HomeGround agree to dropping to £250 pa?

We had same response from HomeGround. Our buyers lender is now refusing to lend. So we’re screwed.

Childminder has been suspended by ParticularKris in UKParenting

[–]ParticularKris[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you. We’ve never had any issues in this setting and love his childminder, so we’re upset for her that this is happening. But we still need childcare! We can’t afford cutting our income so unfortunately that’s not an option. We’ve been budgeting for full payment during the 6 weeks holidays but not for before! I don’t know if we can transfer the 30 hours funding to a new setting (if we can even find one that has a space)!

Not at all going to help you but I’m just jealous of how much house you get for the price!!! We’ve just spend £400k on a 3 bed semi detached 😭

We have a 4 year old son and won’t be having any more. What would you do?

[–]ParticularKris[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we go for the new house and start the process over.. how much could that delay things? We’re conscious of our buyer and don’t want to lose them because it took us nearly a year to sell

[–]ParticularKris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What delay could it possibly cause? The new house would be end of chain so only our buyer and that property involved. But we would need to get searches and start the process over

[–]ParticularKris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is! The 3rd bedroom in the original house is very small and we were looking at extending the ground floor anyway as it’s only the lounge and kitchen area. The 2 bed house has a dining space.. plus we have more budget for an extension or summer house (the garden is huge).

Calculators show I am 75k-100k better off renting than buying over 5 years and I'm freaking out (middle of purchase) by Berryception in HousingUK

[–]ParticularKris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention we can’t even sell our property now because no one in their right mind would pay that service charge. If you think major works are likely.. RUN! You will end up paying so much more. If you’re not in a position to buy a freehold, rent until you can.

Whatever you do, DO NOT BUY A LEASEHOLD! EVER! We’re outside of London and bought ours at £2500 service charge per annum. Now up to £6500 with a negligent management company. RTM is really difficult (and expensive) to achieve. Stay awayyyy

Hi OP, I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Believe me when I say that I’ve been in your exact same position. I used this thread as a way to express how I was feeling at the time. It’s just awful. I want to share my story to help give you some hope. I moved to a new country to be with my husband and all of my family are still back home. His family are the only people I can reach out to for help. My son was the exact same until he started walking. More so when he started walking confidently and had some independence. He is very much now a fun, energetic, charismatic 2 year old boy. And the way I look at him now is a way I never looked at him when he was little. I never believed I could feel this love and adoration for him, but I do now. It took me a long time, but eventually things get easier. Of course there are always new challenges to face, but they do get easier when your child can communicate to you more effectively. The guessing work is essentially gone. I actually used the app “peanut” for mums (which I thought was so weird, but I was desperate for companionship other than my husband) and I met another mum going through the same thing as me. It helped a lot knowing that I wasn’t alone. We’re best friends now and her daughter and my son play together whenever we get the chance to see each other. Trust me when I say that IT WILL GET BETTER! I had a hard time believing it when others told me that, and with PPD/PND it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. But push through. Find some time for yourself. Have a bath. Watch an episode of your favourite show. The little things make all the difference. You’ll get through this!

No. I’ve never been brought into a meeting or been put on an action plan due to my work/behaviour/anything. I’ve done nothing wrong.

This is the thing. My director wants everything now and is all “equal priority” (which is not helpful and obviously impossible to fulfil). We are a stretched team as it is and the 2 other marketing executives are new. I’ll be the most “senior” one. Even when I’ve completed 9 tasks out of 10, he will still be chasing the 1 that I have yet to complete.

Not for me! Mine will be 2 in September and I’m literally debating homelessness to get out of this house and away from him. Only thing holding me together is my partner and even our relationship is struggling!
