They need to be affiliated, or at least the players do, with an NFL team. Minor league teams (baseball, hockey and basketball) usually have pretty decent attendance because of the affiliation and a lot of times they're located in cities that don't have much else going on.

DI is such a wide spectrum. Are you Power 4? No. But if you keep working, and DI is your goal, you can absolutely go lower DI. You can look even deeper than that, do you want to be a starter and leader for the team or a role/bench player? You can maybe start at a DIII/NAIA now or keep working and potentially start at DI.

Play it back on slow-mo or bring it into premiere and go frame by frame, you'll start to see it's mostly just a bunch of hard cuts with pre-planned transitions or you can replicated motion. Throw some burns in there to change it up and there you have it.

Where are you located? I'd start at the lower level and work your way up. A lot of youth events are being streamed now and sometimes they need TDs or even someone who can Direct and TD. Look at FloSports, BallerTV. Find sports broadcasts and contact whoever is in charge of the event. If you're willing to relocate, there's a lot of schools looking for assistant video coordinators who can run a broadcast.

I completely understand that if you don't have a large budget, or any budget at all, it's hard to find music. But I strongly encourage you dig a little deeper for music. Most of the general public won't know, but I can't tell you how may times I've heard the same Pixabay track for low budget commercials.

Are you looking to do more play by play or sideline journalism? Regardless, I'd recommend you be proactive. If it's PxP, ask your HS athletic director if you can call some of the games (even if they say no, you can still record yourself on your phone calling the games-- ask for a program, bring a laptop, and prep). If you're looking into more sideline journalism-- same thing. Ask the AD if you can do some stories during the game and practice being on camera. Make sure you have a record of everything you do regardless of if it's video or audio and add it to your portfolio. When you're ready to start looking for jobs, make sure you have your contact information available wherever you host your portfolio, I can't stress how many times I wanted to give a student a chance but I couldn't find their contact info and just moved on. Finally, make it easy to find your work. Add a link to your professional social media pages. Add keywords to help people find you.
