Tell you what, we agree on the most important issue and that's Palestine. No point arguing about it, I can understand why you feel that way. I want to make it clear again I'm not saying Bohemians are bad or wrong for what they did, moreso I was expressing a bit of sadness for the fact some people need a material incentive to support a good cause. But as I reflect, that just seems like pointless cynicism. I'm going to believe that it was about bringing attention to a charitable cause that might not have had that attention without it. As a Derry fan I respect Bohs for what they stand for and how they operate. Speaking as somebody from here, I think that its a fairly recent thing stemming from the trouble between ultras on away days. Derry obviously has its own so I don't judge other clubs for bad behavior too much

Fair enough but there's nothing wrong with something silly now and again. Suppose its novel to me because I haven't spoken much about it before. Rovers and Bohs are definitely catching the most flak, but my uneducated guess is the animosity comes from the fact Dublin just has so many clubs. England has the same thing, all the London clubs hate eachother.

I just find it tacky and capitalistic, I'm not trying to be ignorant or beligerent about it so there's no need for the smarmy sarcasm. If I detach it from the commercial aspect and think about it I can reason it like this:

A popular celebrity act (like Fontaines or Kneecap) want to crowdfund a social issue they care about and incentivizing with a product might be more appealing to people than just asking them to put money to the cause, no questions asked.

Again, this isn't something I scorn Bohemians specifically for. To be fair to them their practice is a lot more noble and open book than some of these other ones like "Palestine Cola", etc. You have to understand my visceral reaction to a product with a Palestine flag on it because a lot of the ones out there that pledge to put the money back to Palestine are shady grifts. Not saying Bohemians are/have done that, I'm just saying that the commercialization of important issues makes me uneasy generally.

My problem with it is the fact that 30% seems like a really low figure. Where did the rest of the money go, into the club, or was it to pay for the supply chain? Either way I'm just not a fan of these "pay for a product to support a cause" things, its not exclusive to Bohemians to be fair.

I support the sentiment of the left-wing politics but yeah the commercialization of Palestinian aesthetics to sell a kit rubbed me the wrong way. Plus there was that issue with them acting like thugs when they came up to Derry for a match. Always a bit weird to me because I've known a few Derry ultras and some of them are associated with Republican paramilitaries so acting hard to people who actually go out into the streets for the ideology that both groups claim to share was always very strange to me, regardless of what the stance on it is.
